Isabel aftermath...

How did everyone make out?

Here in South Jersey we have a few trees and fences down.

We were without electricity for 11 hours (10pm last night it went out.),but it's been back on for about 1/2 hour.  We aren't even going to look in the big freezer until it's been on for a few hours.  Hopefully we didn't waste $300 worth of food again.

It is sunny and windy here now.  A little too humid, but hey, with the power back the A/C can come on now.

So how did those in NC, MD and VA fare?

You should be still good with only 11 hours out, unless it was also really hot there too. By keeping the door shut and everything sealed in there, they will keep each other cool like in an ice chest for camping. It's opening up over and over that ruins the food more quickly.

From what I could see on the news, Isabel was pretty bad.
I guess its what is causing the rain and wind we are having here now.

Just wanted to say I just heard from my navy son in norfolk and they are all fine, their power just came on 2 1/2 days without, lots of damage in area, and my daughter in laws work building was hit by a tornado with heavy damage.  But I'm just grateful they are ok. Hope anyone else with family in the area are ok too.

duckie thanks for the update.  I am hearing that many folks may be without power for "weeks" (plural).  I hope that is not the case.

We have heard nothing from bumper which does not bode well from the electricity standpoint.

Hang in their Bumper and glad to see Reset logging on here with an update for us.

Nothing from Bumper yet, but I got a note from CNN.com saying power may be out for a week in some areas.

Article in sunday paper reiterates what Rhune said.  Things are reaching critical in nursing homes, etc., since they can't find anyone who can supply fuel for their generators.  If power doesn't return soon, they'll have to evacuate.  Where to evacuate to is another problem.  The hospitals have the same problem.   I hope Bumper and family are all OK, and power outages are the only problems they have.

All of our freezer food made it with no problems.  I went and ate all of the Ice Cream just to keep it from spoiling  Roll Eyes.

ALL OF ITHuh  I hope you didn't have much, or you will have to run an extra mile or 4 to get rid of it. Wink

Bumper, please check in soon.  I am imagine you mucking out your waterfront house.  Or sitting in your "real" house in the dark.  I really really hope you are all ok.

I was just watching CNN, and the top story is VA.  They say there are still over 700,000 people without electricity.  They were also showing footage of colonial style homes (like Bump's), with trees through the roofs.  I am seriously getting worried now.  However with Bumper's law enforcement background, maybe he's staying busy helping his old buddies, help others.  Bump, please check in soon.   Cry

This Irishlass is getting worried about Bumper now too.  It's been a long time with no word, that can't be good.  VA took a pounding and I hope that pounding didn't include any of Bumper's property or loved ones. I'm waiting with everyone else to hear from the Bump. :crossfingers:
