Wedding Ideas

I hope Rhune, MZ & the gang don't mind... but I thought I would start a post where you can give me interesting ideas for the wedding & reception.
For example. My Fiance and I were thinking that instead of doing clinking of glasses or singing we would do a quiz sheet on us and distribute them to the tables. IF you come up and answer a question then we kiss....
Let me know things you have seen or done that you thought were cool!
THanks!!!

...haven't heard of it but it sure sounds cool to me!
Also having throw away cameras on the table for the guests to use are fun.   You collect the cameras after the reception, or your parents do, and have them developed.  This is good, but can get costly if you have one at all the tables.  Maybe one at the first 10 tables would be ok.
Do brides have a money bag in your area?  This is not a Texas custom, but I know it is in the East, and the bride collected a lot of checks at the Long Island wedding we attended.
Be sure to have a DJ and not a band, just more fun!

First off, be very careful of straying too far from tradition.  "Instead of's" can turn into a real mess and a headache.  I picture the wedding guests sitting at tables, laden with plates and such, trying to fill out a piece of paper and....spilling water, etc.

My daughter did something that has become an everlasting treasure.  She hired a photographer to shoot pix depicting the day Quinn proposed to her.  They were surrounded by trees and a beautiful stream of water; he was kneeling and offering her a single rose.  Here's the catch: the photo is black and white, the only colour is the red rose.

She had it oversized to something like 30" X 40", and the matting was approx 10".  The photo was displayed on a beautiful easel at the reception, where everyone wrote their best wishes, etc., on the matting.  Afterwards, it was professionally framed and glassed.  I look at that picture today and still get choked up.

Anyhoo, that's just one little idea.  Another is to have disposable camera's on each table for the guests to use to get those candid shots (which can be precious) your photographer might miss.

Your fiance (and you) will probably find wedding magazines and books galore.  There are several TV (reality) shows too, as well as on the Discovery Channel's: TLC - The Wedding Story, shown daily.

Google Google Google your fingers to the bone.

BUT - may I give you a little word or two of advice?  Well, I'm going to anyhow simply because you and she are going to get plenty of it.  :crowded:

- Listen with an open mind to the barrage you'll receive in the advice department.  In the end, you two will make - together - the finals decisions how and what you want things to go.

- That being said, if you allow yourselves to give a "go" vote someone's idea, over yours, you might kick your butts somewhere down the road.  That's cause for a resentment to build.  THAT you don't want.

- When things and stuff get rough - and it will - remember that the best laid plans oft go awry despite how well a wedding is planned.

- FINALLY - still reading?  :laff:  Your wedding is a precious event - most are.  But the most important thing is to remember is to take time for just the two of you - at least once a week - go on a date, take a drive, do something or nothing, but do it together - alone.

I wish you

What Wings has said is all too true.  You WILL get way too much advice on your wedding.  Have a stop place on asking for ideas!
This is a time for the two of you to remember with things you want, not other folks.
About the quiz, if you do this one, keep it very small like one question per person, etc!
By all means, listen with an open mind, but then do it the way the two of you want! Kiss
