Undecided  I could just kick myself.  I've gotten pretty good at zippin' my lip about making suggestions to my daughter about the baby.  But this time, I shouldn't have.  Little Quinn is "sick".

He's not presenting with anything other than a severely runny nose and raspy cracking chest sounds.   Undecided  My kids did this when they were cutting teeth.  But yesterday I....ahem...."suggested" to Debbie that maybe she might give the doc a call because the phlegm (or however it's spelled) was....uh....an UNsafe colour.

Well, she didn't like me saying that and pooh-poohed me.    :uhoh:  This morning on the phone with her, I could hear him coughing and it sounded awful.  So we got to talking and figuring out when this started - 11 days ago.  The fourth day of the 11 days, was last Saturday when we all went to the cottage and that's when "it" got in his chest.

She called me back a bit ago and said the doc wants to see the baby right away....thank goodness.  But @#%!^*....I could just kick myself for  Lips Sealed  OTOH - it's probably nothing - right?  Just a cold..... :cry2:

Edirted to change "little when"....:laff:

Wings, as you know by now, with our kids and any suggestions we may have, we're damned if we do and damned if we don't!
Don't  Cry hopefully this is caught in time and little Quinn wil be ok in a few days.  You know how babies bounce back!
It does sound like teething and or a cold though.

wingsy!

I am sure little quinn will be just fine.  More than likely a cold and or teething, possibly even a combination of both.

Dont worry babe!

I think the important thing is that you didn't NOT tell her at all.  You put the seed in her mind and when he seemed worse she realized she needed to call the dr.  I'm sure he will be ok, they all get the crud around this time of year, and he may need some antibiotics or a few nights with a humidifier.  It sounds to me like you handled this ok, even though you feel badly about it.

Thanks everyone.   :grouphug2:

I just called Deb's cell and she's on the way home from the doc's.  The baby is fine and his phlegm is now clear.  Yes - it's probably a cold or teething or both.

He hasn't been eating too well lately and refuses a bottle.  Well - part of that is due to Big Quinn - the :censored: of all time.  For a couple of weeks, Deb has "caught" him giving the baby a snack - while and as she's preparing a meal for him.   :punch:

She was fixing his lunch before they left for the doc appt and thought BQuinn was just hanging out with the baby for a minute.  Yeah right - hanging out with a big honkin' chocolate chip cooky.  WTF?  Naturally he wouldn't eat lunch.  Deb tore into him big time and threw out the cookies and told him  :argue: and  :censored:.  Further, :furious: she'd  :smash: :rifle: :punch: if he ever gave the baby junkfood again.

Me =  Lips Sealed    :laff: although it's not that funny.  *sigh*

:chin:  Baby Quinn still coughs some but his nose is still runny - it's staying clear.

He's had this since 9/8 so I don't think it's a cold.  It still could be tooth cutting - or - allergies?  They have beautiful long-haired Max the cat.  Can allergies "start up" so quickly - as in could he suddenly be allergic to cats?

He's totally quit his bottle so we encourage him to drink milk from his Sippy Cup - with 1/4 tsp of Nestle's Quik.  And he's still not eating all that well.  Today for lunch I made him a "hamburger" on 2 pieces of bread with catsup.  He gobbled that up and afterwards had a lg. helping of yogurt.  Oh, and I might mention that he's lost no weight - otherwise I'd be one alarmed grandma.

They go through stages where they eat like pigs and then hardly eat anything...colds can sometimes last up to a month.  Allergies can suddenly develop, but I wouldn't bank on it being that while he's still at the end of a cold.  I know with my Morgan, a cough can last well beyond a cold, sometimes for a month after.

Clear runny nose?  Usually means teething.  Isn't he just over a year old?  This will last awhile.  Don't fret, unless he starts running a temp this is normal.

Right Luci and Rhune - it's probably a low-grade cold.  Now - want me to creep you out?  Well, I'm gonna anyhow.

I've mentioned that my daughter owns and runs a transit company - they take disabled folks (all ages, all degrees of disabilities) wherever they need to go.

Today, Quinn called Phil (Deb's right-hand man) and Phil comes running to me.  "What are scabies?  Quinn just transported a client from hospital (to wherever) and was informed this guy has scabies."

I'm thinking OMG OMG OMG.  I explained about what I knew about scabies and "suggested"  Roll Eyes he go immediately to a drugstore and speak to a pharmacist and get what he prescribes; come home, strip nekkid in the garage (leaving everything in there), go immediately into the bathroom, bathe and then apply the medicine.  And be sure to ask what to use to fumigate the vehicle."

I also added that he damned well better not come in the house and pick up that baby or  :censored:.  Did he?  (Thank goodness baby was napping.)  Nope....  In the meantime, Deb overheard part of the conversation and was seeing red.  He shows up 30 mins. later and says - "I only touched the handles of the wheelchair."

Attracted to warmth and odor, the female mite burrows into the skin, lays eggs, and produces secretions that cause allergic reactions. Larvae, or newly hatched mites, travel to the skin surface, lying in shallow pockets where they will develop into adult mites. If the mite is scratched off the skin, it can live in bedding up to 24 hours. It may be up to a month before a newly infested person will notice the itching, especially in people with good hygiene and who bathe regularly.

I freakin' give up.   Undecided  Thanks for letting me vent - again.   :furious:

wow, scabies is sooo hard to to get rid of once other things are contaminated.  A co worker's son caught it last year in 1st grade.  My co worker ended up getting it, everything was a mess.  Disinfect everything, and better safe than sorry with the cream they give out for this, the doctor will more than likely automatically give the cream out just in case.
