Video killed the Radio Star

I was listening to this song today and thinking about how this really didn't happen.  That was the name of the song that launched MTV - the very first music video.  For awhile in the 80's music videos were hugely influential, but over time MTV has played less and less and less actual music videos.  They have moved more to programming and shows, and put a few music videos in here and there, or partial ones during TRL, and only seem to actually play videos late at night.  At any rate, I was thinking this is one modern device that turned out to only really be a passing fad and didn't ever really revolutionize or change the way we listen to (or view) music...

Rhune,

I have not been able to get this song out of my head since I saw this post this morning.  Ugh!  I even found myself humming the tune at work today!   Shocked

David,

What song do you have repeating contiously in your mind?

I can go back to the beginning of MTV for a song that still plays in my mind to this day:

Music videos are still out there, but I guess what I was trying to say was that they didn't kill the radio star.  Radio statistics and airplay is still way more important than video airplay.  For awhile it was all about who had the cooler video, but that it didn't stay that way, it was just a passing fad.
