You may feel uncomfortable about this discussion.  Here is a link http://www.thekeeper.com/

OK scrolling down here before starting.  This is an offshoot from another thread that I did not want to hijack.

Eastendgirl you mentioned that you have a keeper in your medicine cabinet.  Have you used it?  do you use it all the time?  What's it like?

I have always wondered about this product.  It would be so much better for the environment then all those pads going into the landfills.  Is there a special way to clean it so that we don't infect our community around us?  sorry for all the questions.  But I have been wondering and wondering.

i wondered what people would think because i am still wondering myself about the whole keeper thing.  it is new to me too.  (i only had the funds to purchase only after starting to work again.)  it all started in the spring when a friend and i went to purchase woman stuff for a problem she had been having.  in such a store, i spotted the keeper and started to ask questions.  the answers i got, the more i knew i needed to have one.  it is all rather simple actually.  the actual keeper sits inside of you like a diaphram.  because it is not a tampon, it does not take the moisture away from your vagina.  every few hours, when i go to the washroom, it comes out and i simply pour the blood bits into the toilet.  this is tricky at first but i am sure from what i've have heard that it becomes easy peasy with time.  (i am still new)  there is nothing about menstrual blood is bad for the environment...in fact, don't read if you don't want to know, my friends use theirs to fertilize plants because of all the iron!  so, i am still new but excited because this will help the environment, it is not as sticky as pads can be, it is cheaper than purchasing monthly pads at $5.00/month X 12 months = $60 or $50 (if it is not a heavy flow month.) per year versus $42.00 for ten years.  i also have washable cotton pads which work great when my flow is not quite as heavy or i am nearing the end of my cycle.

there you go.  i hope you are not grossed out.

and btw, i love that fair trade coffee!    Grin

Thanks Eastendgirl.   Cool

I think I will try it - even though I won't need it for 10 years at my age (TMI - I know)

(does bumper know yet that we have this in the grapevine?)

Or he may blush blood red!  Embarassed
If you're lucky he'll be so embarassed he wont mention it even if he does sees it!
I've never heard of this at all, but then I don't need any of this girly stuff any longer.  Talk about helping the environment, I sure am!

How about the 4 times a year news?  Anyone trying this?
Bumper, if you're reading my post, get out fast!  Roll Eyes Shocked
