Song Lyrics Game (music before 1980)

Since there was an obivous interest in this game by lots of people and an equally obvious gap in musical familiarity, I thought I would start a second thread so everyone can participate.  Cheesy

I can't light no more of your darkness
All my pictures seem to fade to black and white
I'm growing tired and time stands still before me
Frozen here on the ladder of my life

Too late to save myself from falling
I took a chance and changed your way of life
But you misread my meaning when I met you
Closed the door and left me blinded by the light

Here we go.....

There was an old lady from Houston
She had 2 hens and a rooster
The rooster died
The old lady cried
My hens don't lay like they used ta

Ain't that a shame
Ain't that a shame
Ain't that a shame
I've lost my helping hand

There was a lady named Sue
Her old rooster died too
She didn't sigh
She didn't cry
She made her a pot of stew

I've heard this one and it is a riot!  I cannot think of the title, or who recorded it,  except that it about the rooster laying a hen at the end, right?

"They're laying hens now
just like they usta
since that ole roosta
came into the barn"

Is this it?

I appreciate the effort to include everyone in this game, you are a sweetie Rhune.  But, some of us, well maybe a few of us are, what you say,...............older than dirt.
I see that this game is for music before 1980 and you are getting closer to my kind of music, but the 50's and 60's would be better.  Wink  I'm going to hang in there for a while and see if something here sounds familiar.  I was just commenting to Mr. I the other day, as I was singing along with an oldie, that it was really strange how I could remember every word to the songs that were popular when we were in high school.  Of course, I get frequent reinforcement of these memories when we go to classic car shows.  Most of them have 50's and 60's music playing the entire day.

There's no reason you can't post lyrics from some 50's and 60's songs in here.  I am sure there are a few of our visitors that would be able to guess them. Smiley  I know you are not the only grandma in the forums. Wink

This song is from the 50's and was still being sung in the 60.70,and 80's.  I saw the artist sing it in the 70's at a sold out concert.  It is on an album I had.
HINT: This artist has a body description, and a game piece in HIS name.
I was in college in the early sixties----but if you really can't do it,  please someone else take a stab at another lyric.

Hmmmm, from the 50's?  I'll think about it a little more.  Your hint should help too, but right now I'm drawing a blank.  This will give me something to think about this morning. Wink

I can name this song in......4 notes.... :laff:

I've made a lot of stops all over the world
And in every part I own the heart Of at least one lovely girl
I've a pretty Seniorita waiting for me Down in old Mexico
If you're ever in Alaska stop and see My cute little Eskimo
Oh my sweet Fraulien down in Berlin town Makes my heart start to yearn
And my China doll down in old Hong Kong Waits for my return
Pretty Polynesian baby over the sea I remember the night
When we walked in the sands of the Waikiki
And I held you oh so tight
