Are POP-UP ads driving you nuts?

Just this weekend my computer is having an attack of pop-up ads.  Then it pops-up for me to purchase a device to download on my computer for 19.95 to stop the pop-ups

Now I'm thinking that this company is the one sending all these pop-upps to my computer.  Are any of you getting this and how in the heck do I stop it without purchasing their service, which I have no clue is legit or if it will clog up the works in my 'puter!
 Angry Angry Angry Angry Angry
HELP!  I'm being attacked mercilessly by the moment!

this is their website www.ihatepopups.com, or www.killpopups.com, something similar!

Rhune, REset, are you out there, I need you now badly!

by a program from staples or office max to help block the pop ups.  They work wonders!

I have my computer back now thanks to it  Cheesy  without the annoying pop ups which are usually quite hard to close out of

It has been guessed for sometime now that it is the pop up people that run the pop up ads so they can sell their service just like many feel the anti virus people aid in the creation of viruses. It seems we are al stuck with pop ups much like commercials on TV Angry

Yes, I do agree with you David!  However, I cut to the chase and went to the online chat support from comcast.  Then went to the area I ws told and downloaded the adaware to stop the pop-ups.  Now I'm suspecting that Comcast owns Adaware also and it cost me 54.95, for I did purchase the CD to also be delivered to my home.  I'll need it for the new laptop I bought last week.

Thanks for your advice.    Now who said a computer is easier?  Faster?  Without hassle?

I believe Adaware is a 3rd party program, because I don't have Comcast, but I've seen and used Adaware myself and had it recommended to me.  I don't really have a problem with pop-ups on my machine though, so I think my router or my firewall are stopping a lot of them.

I do have McAfee virus protection and downloaded the firewall last year, had to remove it for it locked up the computer!
We'll see how this system works and if I still have pop ups tomorrow, I'll ask for a refund and uninstall it!   Undecided Undecided Undecided

You should definitely get a firewall, to protect your computer.  It's what helps keep people from connecting to you without your permission and rooting through your computer files.  There are several out there, I personally use zone alarm.

YIPPEE!  I found the culprit that was sending me more pop-ups than I could close out!  It was the weather download, got that rascal off my 'puter and not ahving a problem right now!  Also uninstalled that $50.00 Adaware that did not keep them from coming and asked for a refund!
There is a 'puter God!

The new free google toolbar has a pop-up blocker. Works for me.

Hi sweet katy!  Thanks for that info.  It took me a little time to find it but I did and downloaded.  I'm so utterly sick of those popups!  I hope it works.

How are you doing?
