Wednesday in for surgery on Friday
« on: Dec 2nd, 2003, 6:19pm »

It's been a long day.  Mostly good but some stresses.  If I had an hour I would tell you about my day.  Without the details here are the highlights

1.  went to visit my daughter's school
2.  then took her to see a pediatric ENT doctor and she also had an audiology appointment.  She has hearing loss in her right ear.
3.  INCREDIBLY we got an appointment to have a tube put back in that ear on Friday of THIS week.  This is completely unheard of in Canada.  Seems some extra operating room time came up and she was the beneficiary of it.  Thank god.
4.  Took my daughter back to school where I stayed until the end of the day.
5.  daughter went outside to play in the playground with the other kids for the end of the day playground time and I stayed in to leave a note that she was coming home with me (she usually stays for the extended care program).
6.  went out to the playground and when I opened the door I heard my daughter crying Help me Help me.  You know how you immediately know your child's voice? yep.  So at first I thought she was trying to get her friend to help her with seomthing.  Then I thought she might be stuck on the equipment.  I couldn't see her.

Well I heard her cry out Help me Helpme two more times and a ran down the stairs to the back of the equipment to find my daughter surrounded by boys beating her up.  Sigh.  It broke my heart.  She came running over to me crying.  (now this is a private school and it is soooooooooooooo not acceptable that this is happening!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Clearly there was no proper supervision on the playground AND it turns out what they had done was put a scarf around her neck and were trying to choke her with it.  Now they are only 5 and not doing the best job of it but my daughter was basically being terrorized.

DAMN IT - sorry I am so pissed

I got a teacher and the details will just bore you plus my daughter just wanted to hurry up and leave.

I have placed a phone message with the principal and we will have to meet.  I have also said that there have to be consequences for these children.

The sad part is that the two boys who are labelled as trouble makers were nabbed but they were not alone.  There are other boys without the label that basically got away.  They were far away from me and they scattered instantly at the sight of me as I came around the corner.

Thank god I came out of the school when I did.

So there is much on our minds today but if you read this far. thanks for listening.  Sigh.

Damn it Addams, this makes me so angry for you and your little daughter!   Angry  I have to give you credit for not grabbing those boys and starting to beat the dang tar of of all of them, but then you would be in trouble with the little darling's parents.

And she has a hearing loss.  How sad!  Tubes in children's ears is common in the USA.  My 3 yr old grandosn has them, but I never put tubes in my child's ears.  No one ever suggested it.

Were these boys her age?   Older?  It doesn't matter for they need to be dealth with and harshly to make an impression that will last.  Plus a severe impression on their parents as well!

Good luck with the surgery.  There's an angel on your shoulder

Addams, I have a deja vu feeling. Is this the first time you've had problems with kids jumping on little Wednesday? I seem to remember something else and you had trouble getting action about it. I'd love to have private access to the butts of those boys for about twenty minutes.  Angry

 for you and also  for Wednesday. I'll be thinking of you both on Friday.

Bore us?  Choking Wednesday....if we READ that far.
You have got to be kidding.  Wednesday is our baby too and if they (asshole bratty kids) hurt her they've hurt us to the core too.

You bet you'll have a little meet.  Maybe it's time to change her schools.  This is the second time this child has been hurt.

I wish Ralph Kramden were around to knock those s***** kids to the moon.  What's going on with out children to do something like this?

We love you addams and are behind and beside you a billion kazillion percent!

Addams,

After reading your post today.  I wanted you to know that I feel awful that your sweet daughter had to go through such a horrible experience.  I really feel the boys involved need to be punished severly by the schools administration.  I am horrified that such young boys can be so brutal.

You and your family are in my prayers.

Please give Tuesday an extra hug today for me.

i wish you both the best of luck with her surgery.  my cousin has had ear operations like six hundred times, and he also has a hearing loss, fairly significant.  kids certainly seem to find ways to cope and get beyond it!  prayers...

Wow!  I just read this thread and I am beyond shocked.  Where was the playground supervisor?  The principal has some explaining to do.   I'm scared for Wednesday, and mad as hell that there was opportunity for this kind of behavior.  I hope you're able to get some satisfaction and reassurance from the school.   The boys need punishment...they need to learn there are consequences for this kind of behavior.

I hope the surgery goes well on Friday.  Hugs for Wednesday, and the whole Addams family.  God bless!!

When I read the subject of this thread, my first reaction was, omg.  Now, after reading the actual thread, my reaction is OMG!
Addams, since this is not a first offense against sweet Wednesday, I am really worried for her.  Didn't you actually see the little boy hit her the other time?  This is twice now that you have witnessed her being bullied.  I have to wonder what is happening to that baby when you aren't present.  Is she the kind of child that would tell you if someone hurt her?  Do you know that it's not happening regularly?  Is the school doing anything about disipline?  I am worried that these boys are going to hurt her mentally, and that this is something that's going to haunt her later.  I'm sure you have her in this school because of it's reputation, and/or convenience, but, is there another school that might suit her better?
This is going to be in my mind for a long time.  I'm really worried for her.

I just want to start this post by saying I am so exhausted and crying too.

I don't have the energy to tell you what again happened at school today.  The principal called me at 5:20 just as I was leaving to pick up Kathleen from a play date at her friends house.

It was not as bad as before but still not good. Emotionally I have been very strong for the school, for my duaghter and for the parents of the other childrent invovled.  I believe they are only children and I believe that anger is not the answer.  But it is exhausting.

Just now as I started to post the phone rang on and it was one little boy calling to apologize.  He had it Kathleen over the head with his boot at school at the end of the day and then professed his hate for her.  I know it was likely because he was in very serious trouble for the prior incident.  He is a troubled boy but I believe the school has taken extraordinary steps.

I have told the principal that I am not asking them to expell the boy but the prinicipal said that she must be able to assure my daughter's safety.  I am trying very hard to make this work and the family of one boy is already in counselling with a child psychologist because they are in the midst of a separation.  The other family, the more problematic boy, has been told by the school they have to get counselling.

I have to go and watch survivor now.  I love you all for your kind words and thoughts.  Please pray for positive resoultions for all the children. thank you.

I am glad to hear they are in counseling or are going to be required to get counseling.  I am soo sorry for your daughter for having to deal with all of this.  While I don't see that she has done anything wrong that would warrant counseling, you might consider getting her some if she starts having nightmares, etc.  She has suffered repeated attacks now and may have some post traumatic stress disorder as a result and have a hard time coping.  She's just little and it's hard to deal with all that violence and hate when you are big, let alone little. Sad

What an awful thing to have to deal with in the middle of everything else.

Yes it surely is and I'm not as kind and patient as some of youa bout this ordeal.

Are these boys going to be the wife abusers of tomorrow?
When I was single, I could very well tell the difference in a man who had been raised in a loving home versus the one who had not!  I could go on and on about this, but won't at this time.
The one thing I would do is get my child away from them if she had to change schools.  We have 7 grandchildren in school from ages 13 to 6, and none of them have endured this kind of treatment.

OOur 10 yr old grandson plays ice hockey and at one game after the play was over the other kidd from the opposing team turned around and hit him with his hockey stick.  My
son-in-law jumped over the rail and was on the court pronto.   This boy was the little brother of the coach and believe me when our SIL finished the little bro was punished.    This is no way to allow children to behave, for the children do grow up!  It is way past time for discipline from the parents and this has been lacking for some time now.
