I am just passing by to give an update on the surgery to put in her tube today into her right ear. I am so relieved all is well and the tube is in. She really needed it. It went really well.

We are home. All is well. Wednesday did very well with her surgery. Never cried once the entire day. When they came to take her to the operating room they asked about her health and she looked up and said "I need a tube in my ear" and they agreed and off they went.

Later she told me that she just took one breath of the mask air and she started to feel tired. She fortunately had no intravenous and therefore not a single needle today. That was a relief for her but she was prepared for it if it happened. I try to put her expectations in the right place.

Afterwards the nurse told me that she woke up and did not cry instead she asked the nurse "is this the recovery room?" which really surprised the nurse. Likely not too many of her 5 year olds wake up that way.

This was a new hospital we had not been to before. They were very well organized for pediatric cases. It is not a children's hospital but they had special everything for kids.

When they called me in she had just woken up and already had asked for and received a popsicle. She loved that it was red, white and blue.

Another parent who's son had cried couldn't get over Wednesday's brave and confident manner. I was so proud of her. Everyone was watching her and off she went without even a glance back (after a hug and a kiss of course).

And now we are home. Sweet home. Eating popsicles and perogies. An unlikely combination and I have twice had to remind her not to run. (make that three times now with a thread to be put to bed if she doesn't take it easy sheesh)

They gave her three times the usual dose of tylenol that would give her. So I expect in a little while it will start wearing off and she will be a bit sore but right now the drugs are working.

Thanks again everyone. Your prayers worked and we managed just fine. It was a wonderful mom and daughter time. I will always treasure it.

On the way out we stopped at the gift shop and we now have another small stuff dog that has been named Rosie.

And Dad is out tonight but stopped by the house on the way home with flowers for BOTH of his girls. So off we go to put them into vases.

Mucho thanks for Daddy Gomez to bring flowers to his to little women.

Wednesday's behaviour before and after this surgery does NOT surprise me one bit. I think once she knows and experiences a thing, it's hers, and she'll "suck" it up to get it done and over with. In fact, she reminds me a lot of Deb when she was little in that, she has a high tolerance for pain.

I don't have much time here cuz we are heading off to pilates (gomez and i).

But I meant to mention to Irishlass that Glitz went to the hospital and stayed with wednesday the whole time even in surgery. Glitz even has her own name tag and I will try to get my husband to take a digital pick of her.

I will have to start an adventures of Glitz thread to tell everyone about Glitz (she's a lovely cat that IL gave to Wednesday last summer and she's been a constant companion ever since)
