A TRUE Christmas Story

Several years ago at Christmas I purchased a beautiful candle/pinecone decoration.    Just before going to bed on Christmas Eve,  I was standing by the bookcase it was on with my back to it as we were tlaking.  The room was lit only by the candle and it was a very romantic setting.  My husband standing facing me said,
"My love burns for you."  I'm thinking he sure is one more romantic guy on Christmas Eve.    :elf:
He then said, "In fact I think I smell it!"
Whoa here!  I turned around quickly to see the candles had burned down and started to catch the pine cones on fire, just enough to start them smoking.  We quickly carried the decoration to the sink and made sure there was no fire left.
We did have a good laugh!
So much for a romantic  Christmas Eve! :santa:

One year, several years back, I married my first husband very close to christmas. So, we had a huge house full of people, several of them sleeping over like my brother and some friends from college, etc.  So, the house was packed, including 3 people in the living room.  We decorated and had this beautiful tree.  In the middle of the night, our two cats, which were both young and female, went into heat for the first time.  So we had about 10 people and two yowling cats.  The grand finale was when both of them decided to attack the christmas tree in the middle of the night, tipping it over with a great big crash.  I'm not sure I'll ever forget that christmas.  Grin

Several years ago I borrowed a Santa Suit for my husband's family Christmas gathering.  I asked his brother who is 5 years younger to wear it and he is a funny guy, also has a big belly and beard!  He went into the last bedroom which has an outside door that can lead to the yard.  Anyway, after going outside, he could not get back into the house to take the outside door out and come into  the living room, for he was locked out!  He beat and banged ont he door but none of us heard him.
Finally out of desperation and the two of us wondering where he was and also others began to ask where he had gone, he finally appeared after about 45 minutes.
A disheveled Santa he was indeed!  He had to scale a 6 ft. fence to get out of the backyard.  We could hear cars honking a lot, but had no idea they were honking at Santa coming over a 6 ft. fence!  That was a fun Christmas!  :santa:
