My Mom, Reichen's hero Grandma passed away

I have missed this board more than I can express. My laptop is down. I am in the cold Cincinnati weather.
My Mom was diagnosed with a brain stem tumor that was malignant, 4 weeks ago. She had a second MRI 10 days ago, and the tumor was 3 times bigger and there were 4 more on the optic nerve. She started radiation last Monday with a 70% survival rate. She had 4 treatment and since she had no symptoms from the tumors, or the radiation, we were all feeling she would beat this. She drove herself to radiation Thursday, went out for lunch, talked to all 7 of her children and went to bed at 9pm.
When several of us heard our phones ring during the night between 3 and 4AM, and when we saw her number on our caller ID, and she didn't show up for daily Mass, and was late getting to my sister's house, she called my brother and they rushed to her house. She was on the floor between her twin beds where she apparently fell after rinsing her nightgown, slippers, and trying to change her sheets after being sick.
She was alive, scared, had her eyes open but couldn't move. The EMT's arrived and she squeezed a hand and tried to keep my brother in view. She never recovered consciosness. She passed away at 11pm that night, 15 minutes after I arrived from the airport. Reichen missed her also, but gave the most beautiful Eulogy anyone could have ever heard at her funeral Mass. She was buried with full military honors with her 7 children, their spouses, 11 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren and friends and other family members present.
We are all in shock, and we still can't imagine that she could possibly be gone.
I will stay with my youngest sister ( she found Mom ) until she recovers from the horrible shock. As the eldest I am supposed to be the rock--I feel like a bowl of colorless jelly.

Ann thank you for letting us know. What a shock. You have all my condolences and prayers for you and your family.

Good for Reichen to give the eulogy. It is not easy and yet it's so special to have the opportunity.

It's OK to be jelly. It's OK. It's wonderful you are staying with your youngest sister for a little bit until more time has passed. What a wonderful sister you are.

I know about being the oldest. I am only the oldest of 3 but my mom is the oldest of 8. It's the suddeness after the expectations were so good.

I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

I sit here with tears in my eyes reading this. I am so sorry that this happened especially at the holidays. I will pray that your family will somehow find peace and that you will feel the love of family and friends to help you find your way through all of this.

My heart surely goes out to you and your family. I can not tell you how much this deeply effects me to read this. I am glad that she did not suffer long however.
