Ontarian helps Indianapolis Pro-Football History

I see a local guy from a few miles down the highway, has made history for Indianapolis Colts and for himself.

He’s come a long way since growing up in Oakville, Ontario (Canada). Now, Mike Vanderjagt’s name will be forever enshrined in pro football history. On Sunday, the Indianapolis Colts’ kicker booted an NFL record 41st consecutive field goal, eclipsing the old mark of 40, set by Gary Anderson in 1997-98. But the new titleholder says the unforgettable hoof was nearly doomed before takeoff.
 
“I put it on a little mound on the field and I got under it a little too much,” he remarked after his game-ending 43-yarder lifted the Colts to a 20-17 victory at Houston. “I probably shouldn't have done that, but I felt it was going to go through. When you watch 1,000 (practice kicks) a week, you kind of get a feel for when it's going to be good. And I felt this was good.”
 
Earlier, he nailed a 39-yarder to tie the mark. Vanderjagt’s remarkable streak began late last year. And it went straight through the end of this season, where he finished 37-for-37 in three-pointers. But he ended just two short of the league record for most field goals in a season set in 1999 by Miami's Olindo Mare.

All of us Colts fans love Vanderjagt.   Cool  I didn't know he was your "neighbor" addams.  The man is one awesome kicker.
