Wednesday lost her first tooth today

Wednesday's tooth fell out this morning. This marks the first baby tooth that she has lost. It has been loose all over the Christmas holidays.

Does anyone have any suggestions about what the tooth fairy ought to be doing tonight?

when I grew up I got 25 cents under our pillow. no fanfare but it was always there.

So what is the going rate these days? Suggestions? What traditions does the tooth fairy have in your house? Leave a little note or something special? Have a special package you leave it in?

Do you save your child's teeth? It's hard to explain that if they are found.

When I was a kid, it was a dollar a tooth, course you could actually buy a toy or something with a dollar back then. Today if you put a dollar, unless it goes into a piggy bank, there's not much you can spend that on other than candy as a kid. For my oldest, he has a fish tank that he just loves to death, that we got him over Christmas. I think we'll probably put under his pillow a "coupon" to pick out something for the fish tank - a new fish or snail, a plant, etc. rather than actual dollars. That or maybe I'll mix it up a little with money sometimes for the piggy bank, fish tank stuff and "coupons" for special outings.

Maybe the tooth fairy could tuck a loonie under her pillow tonight. I don't know what the "going rate" is - I've heard it's gone sky high. You might ask a couple of people at her school.

I think a loonie would be more than enough. *shrug*

i am thinking that a toonie should cover it. it is not that large and yet it is small enough to replace the missing tooth under her pillow.

btw, woo hoo! go wednesday! you lost your first tooth. i can remember when i lost my two front teeth at christmas one year and went around the livingroom singing, "all i want for christmas is my..." Grin

Maybe we are a weird family, but here the toothfairy was in the house only once, for the first tooth. She had left my brother a dollar, and she had left me 2 dollars, 8 years later.
Then, we were told that the toothfairy was delegating her work to Mom, which had the "toothfairy power" to pick up tooth and to chose a small gift for us every time a tooth was falling out. That allowed Mom to keep all of our teeth (except for the first one) and to give us something else than money. I got stamps, stickers, mini-puzzles, stuff like that.

Dont feel bad if you dont keep the teeth.. after a couple of years they start to look weird. And I remember the first time I opened that box of teeth...the smell..ewww I guess the box had been sealled for too long ! I have not kept it, think I have lost it while moving, years ago...

I think the toothfairy left 50 cent pieces for our girls. I saved their teeth and a few years ago I found two tiny boxes of teeth in a drawer. I guess I wasn't thinking at the time, but I didn't label the boxes so I didn't know which teeth belonged to which daughter. I ended up throwing them in the trash. Sad

BTW, what is a loonie?

So glad to learn something! I had no idea what a toonie is!

That seems to be a good rate for a tooth! Wait until she looses the other one and it should be soon. My little Granddaughter lost her two front teeth last fall and she looked so cute with those two teeth out. She wanted to smile big so we could see it and insisted in smiling for her school picture.
