As a collector or Frosty Friends I can tell you that I would not pay that much for the first of the series, no matter how much I would like to have one. Unfortunately, I didn't begin my collection until 1988. If you do the math, you'll see I'm missing the first 8 of the "Friends". I keep looking for them, but I refuse to pay that kind of price. Maybe someday I'll luck out and find one at a garage sale. Okay, so now everyone knows, Irish is a penny pincher.

LOL, Bumper, some of the early ornaments had a sort of fuzzy finish on the animals that would be discolored by cigarette smoke. I suppose if the ornament was hung too low on a tree and there was a cat in the house it could be damaged by frequent "bats" by the paws and a little chewing here and there. If you were paying that kind of money those kinds of things might matter.

This has to be only in the area where you live for I've never seen or heard of them. And I've worked in Christmas stores for over 10 years where we sold many collectables.

Now that I've seen the ornament, I'll have my friend who lives in NC to be on the lookout for them. I won't even pay $50.00 for Christopher Radko ornament!

Irish, at this point, how many do you have of them? What others are you looking for? Does each one have a name? Sure sounds interesting, educate me on this, please!

why? that is all i want to know. $490 US is $622 canadian. the same price as one of my courses at grad school. but then, why would people want to study theology? (as a friend asked me the other night Wink

) we all have our vices, i guess.

Well, I wouldn't pay that for a FrostyFriends, but a HereComesSanta, now that something different entirely! I am a little embarrassed to say that the only ornaments on my tree are Hallmarks, I am loony about them. I got married in 89, and my oldest ornaments are 88's.. I must say, dear Hubby wasn't thrilled when he found out the cost of them all. However, the resale value of some of them excites him, and he still lets me indulge. Cool

Irishlass, we'll have to talk sometime! I really thought everyone else had abandoned my lust for ornaments. Grin
