A poem to share
« on: Jan 30th, 2004, 4:35pm »

This just popped into my head today (that often happens to me) and lakelady thinks I should share it with all of you.

Message Boards

For really high drama on the net
A message board is your best bet
Words are misunderstood, words get misread
Did she just say what I think she said?
You might check your feelings at the door
Especially if they’ve been hurt before
‘Cause you’ll never really know a person’s intent
If they meant what they said or said what they meant
But work on the assumption that intentions are good
And you’ve found yourself a fun neighbourhood
Where ideas are exchanged and opinions related
And no one is hated for what they just stated
True we can’t see each others faces
Emoticons take the places of faces
Winks are light hearted and smiles, well they’re happy
Frowns show displeasure while hugs are just sappy
But here’s some advice
And I won’t say it twice
For the best of times
Don’t read between the lines

Radiogurl!  Lakelady was right to urge to show us your precious talent.  That is really quite goooood.   :clapping:  Post those ideas any time they pop into your head!  :clapping:

People have oft asked me why oh why would I leave some place like Santa Barbara (or wherever) to come to Manitoba.  I try to 'splain - but occassionally my mouth becomes frozen.....  Otherwise I use this flashcard:

WHY I LOVE Manitoba IN THE WINTER TIME...

When it's Winter Time in Manitoba ,
  And the gentle breezes blow,
  About seventy miles an hour
  And it's fifty-two below.
You can tell you're in Manitoba
'cause the snow's up to your butt,
And you take a breath of Winter air
And your nose holes both freeze shut.
  The weather here is wonderful,
So I guess I'll hang around,
  I could NEVER leave Manitoba.
My feet are frozen to the ground!

Thank you all for saying you enjoyed my poem.

(I *love* your Manitoba ditty MzWings!!!)

I would be dishonest if I didn't say it came to mind due to recent events here.  I hope everyone reads it and takes a little something away from it.  Life is just too damn short, you know?

That was a no-brainer (for me).  (IMNSHO) If posters would keep on the topic subject during a debate and  Lips Sealed refrain from name-calling (or calling a poster out if they don't agree/understand that poster's wording choices) - I think things and stuff would go hunky dory.  (Uhhhh, including moi here too.)

Further, if they can't - then I think it best to take the disagreement to a private mode - pm's or em's.

Anywaaaaaaaay, just my  :twocents:   Wink

Very good RG, I have it stored in my file for a friend sent it to me last year..
Not being able to speak face to face with each
other makes the smileys priceless!  Grin
