My head is still spinning too, that was a very quick "cut to commercial". I was still trying to figure out if I had just seen what I thought I had. It was very quick. Our local news led with an apology from CBS concerning the "incident" during the half time show. They also said that MTV would probably never be asked to do the half time show again.

Very clearly staged, in my opinion.

She stood there and basically posed/held still while he did it. She had a snap away portion to her breast cover, she had a pastie on underneath it, he didn't get caught on her, he deliberately reached over and pulled it off, and while she looked shocked, she did not try to cover the breast or retract in any way physically and he did not look shocked at all. If it had been an accident, he would not have looked casual.

"wardrobe malfunction" LOL! Sure it was. Yup! That metal piercing was NOT intended for public display. Ha! While I agree that was uncalled for the dirty dancing was also not necessary in a family show, but a pastie is a pastie and it wasn't totally nude in the true sense of the word and other female stars have had evening gown malfunctions before when the tape slips and the boob falls out. It could have been worse.

I didnt watch Superbowl but I did see slide show of "incident" it appears staged! Its a shame that both Jackson and Timberlake feel that their talent alone wasnt enough to entertain all those watching!

The act itself doesn't bother me. The venue in which it was performed, however, was inappropiate.

The apologies and lies after the fact are an insult to everyone. If you want to push limits, at least have the balls to stand up and admit it.

could care less what they did, just not at 8:30 at night in a situation where clearly there were going to be children watching. Under different circumstances, I may have even found it humorous.

CBS and Justin are insulting everyone with their apologies. Not to mention, if CBS truly is claiming innocense, why would they say MTV will "probably" not do any other half time shows? Has Janet released any type of statement?

Now as far as the game, I definately think the second half proved to be quite entertaining although the game itself started out slow to me

Well, I feel the same as does the majority here. Inappropriateness on all levels. Further, the Networks had to know the venue - so apologizing to us for something they knew was planned and putting said blame on the performers - only adds to being inappropriate.

But some viewers may not be convinced that the two singers were not raising the threshold on shocking behavior, mindful of how pop icon Madonna and Britney Spears grabbed headlines with a kiss during the MTV Music Video Awards in August.

"Shocking as it was, it was not a mistake. It's really sad. How are we going to up the ante next?" said Barbara Lippert, advertising critic at trade report AdWeek.

The NFL was also not impressed.

"We were extremely disappointed by elements of the MTV-produced halftime show," said NFL Executive Vice President Joe Browne.

"They were totally inconsistent with assurances our office was given about the content of the show," he added. "It's unlikely that MTV will produce another Super Bowl halftime."

In another public display, a streaker held up the game for several minutes prior to the second-half kickoff as he paraded around the field and then took off in an attempt to elude security. :laff:

He was ultimately knocked down by New England Patriots linebacker Matt Chatham and hauled off the field by a group of security personnel. The incident was kept off the air. :furious:

They did something "on purpose" for shock value, then started waffling. Gimme a break (tongue firmly in cheek). That was NO accident. Bad taste, yes. The whole half time wasn't to my taste, so I was just waiting for it to be over. I did see Justin deliberately reach across Janet and pull off that part of her costume. Imagine how crushed PDiddy, Janet and Justin would be, if they did something like this and NOBODY noticed.

I've heard and read more comments on how awful the half time how was and how bad it has gotten year after year. It seems that after the one that Disney produced which was years ago, each year it only gets worse!

Will CBS just tell us why they had MTV to produce this halftime in the first place? After all they did play in Houston, Texas, smack dab in the middle of Cowboy country.
I'm ticked because I missed most of Willie and Toby's song. You guessed it, Mr L had to see the end of the golf tournament! So I'm never going to let him forget this, NOT! Cry

Knowing not everyone likes country music, not everyone for sure likes pop, rap and just plain crap. P.Diddy, Nelly, Kid Rock? Come on CBS, get with it! Next year give us a halftime that we don't complain about, take a nap during the half or go to the powder room.

Maybe if they had a good country artist or artists, at least people wouldn't be complaing about their halftime so much today! And we do like other kinds of music! I will say this, had Willie and Tobey been the halftime show instead of what they had, there would not be so many complaints today. However, the Grammys are next Sumnday. Hmmmm, very suspicious indeed!
Make us want to see the halftime show, CBS!

And yes, too much has been made of this, for it turned out to be a good game. Remember when so many have been one sided and not interesting at all? This one kept us in our chairs until the end! Cool
