The Lighter Side

I know a lot of us have been going through some more serious and unhappy times in our lives lately, and I think it's great we can talk about it and get some much needed support from each other.  In the same token, I was thinking that maybe we should also start a thread that was more light hearted, focusing on the positives or amusing, the good things going on in our lives right now too.   EEG inspired me to start this thread a little big after chitchatting today.

Today my 2 year old told his first fart-joke.  Roll Eyes  At lunch he sat up in his high chair and shouted "Daddy!"  My husband - "Yes?" and then he baby talked and ended his sentence with the word poop (blah blah blah poop) and then let out a huge fart and laughed hysterically.  While I'm not much of a toilet humor person myself, I thought this was hilariously funny.  The funniest part was probably the shocked expression on my husband's face.

Cool Cool Cool  Sure do, this is why I log in here.  And also why I started the "Laugh With Luci" thread, post some funny jokes there.
I started the "Ladies Lounge" for the smae reason, just girl talk!

The only thing lighter around here today is the sky, it is cold but the sun is shinning and everything is gonna be OK.  Grin

Ooops, this should go in the weather thread. Grin Roll Eyes

Out of the mouths of babes.  Get ready, Rhune, boys love to do these kinds of things and tell funny stories!

Two years ago as we were driving to Branson with the 3 grandchildren, the little one asked, "Papa, are we on the road we're going on?"    We all got a big laugh from this as I've written down all the cute things they've said as toddlers.

Kaci used to be deathly afraid of Santa.  On Christmas morning, of the year she was 3, she sleepily stumbled into the living room and said "He not a bad boy!"  It's now a favorite line of mine at christmas.

Please do not see this next one as racial.......
A friend of mine was pregnant, and asked her 5 year old if she wanted a brother or a sister.  The little girl replied, it doesn't matter as long as it's not black.  The mom replied, it had better not be black because daddy would kill us both!

My grandparents used to have a tame/wild squirrel in the trees in their yard.  The way we got it to come to us, was by knocking pecans together.  My dad was trying to call it to him one day, and wasn't doing it correctly.  I yelled out to him(this was a holiday, and the yard was FULL of family)"Dad knock your nuts together!!!"  Everyone was rolling on the gound laughing.  I think I was probably at the tender age of 12, or 13, and this really embarrassed the crap out of me. Embarassed

Great thread.

This afternoon I am going to pick up my daughter from school EARLY.   Early means when school ends (and she doesn't go into the extended day care program today).

Also today is the day we get to take home the classroom hamster for the weekend.  Please everyone include us in your prayers that the hamster gets back to school on Monday morning safely.

Today is the start of winter school vacation here. My husband the high school teacher has all next week off.  An entire week of sleeping in late each morning! However he is a coach of a robotics team and all next week he will be working on his robot before they have to ship it to the competition so I won't see him home much at all. But he enjoys his group of students learning engineerring skils.

My son called me 3 times from Cairo Egypt in the last 2 days! He was there on business and called last night to talk for a while about seeing the pyramids and all sorts of fun things. Today he called when I was visiting my folsk trying to help them put together a 1,000 piece puzzle that everyone was giving up on so I stayed around  and enjoyed puzzling again and when I got him my son had left a message. And just now he called again trying to use up the last minute on his calling card. He warned me the call would end with no warning and after about 1 min it did! LOL but it was exciting to get the call anyway and to know he used his time on good old mom and not his girlfriend... However he didn't share any fart jokes. I don't think they allow that sort of thing in Egypt...

I love jigsaw puzzles, but haven't done one in years except the online ones you can play, my kids are still at that piece snatching stage, so it'll be a few more years yet before I can.  I have bought a couple in teh meantime though and hoarded them away Wink

One piece of advice on the school hampster is don't feed it honey nut cheerios!  Grin

My little one has developed this cute new habit of walking around the room and saying "YummmEEE" when he finds something he likes. Wink

Will the honey nut cheerios glue him together?

When in Orlando a few years ago for our son's wedding, my grandson would be celebrating his 3rd birthday.  They made reservations for us to eat at the Winnie the Pooh Character Breakfast, for he loved Winnie.  After spending $20.00 for each of us a pancake.(yes, way too much for what we were served!)  we all got into the car and started for Epcot.  My daughter turned around and said to him, "Who did you have breakfast with this morning", thinking he would reply with all the character names.  Without missing a beat, he said, "Papa".   Well this made the day for one of us!  Guess which one Roll Eyes?   He gets all the glory form the kids, dan it!    We don't think they know he is a grown up,  for he plays with them so much!

When I was in the 2nd grade I took home the class hampster for a weekend, and fed him a lot, he seemed to loooooove them, but uh, he died the day after I brought him back to school...sooooooo... Roll Eyes  Let's just say I'd feed him hampster food instead if I could do it over. Cheesy  The honey nut cheerios were like chocolate to him and he didn't know when to say when.. Wink
