OK lets see what scares you the most...

me I have 2

I'm a claustophobia(fear of being in closed areas), the thought of it alone makes me feel helpless and sick...

Ghosts! Man I hate to see one, especially to the one that stares at you...

I wouldn't say that these are actually phobias because they don't seem to be extensive enough to interfere with my daily life, so I'll tell you my fears.

I'm very afraid of snakes although I'm curious to look at them if I see them in a cage.  I think the reason for this is because my friend Peter has a pet snake and I was holding it when it slithered down my shirt.  It was awful!!

I'm afraid of the idea of ghosts although I cannot say that I have seen one.  It's just the idea that they COULD be around me.

Like you, Sweetmisery, I also can't handle small faces.  I start to panic in a locked room.  It was really scary because one day at work they locked me in the cooler and I couldn't get out.  Ahh!

I fear crowds (perhaps I fear closed spaces because it happens after I have been amongst the crowd for a while)

Bugs/insects

And it is a phobia because it does interfere with my daily life.  Man if i see a bug somewhere, the screaming starts and i can't go back in that room for days, at least until i forget

I live in Maryland, this year is the year of the 17 year cicadas.  They are sometimes called brood X (ten)  They come every 17 years to torture me.  I was five when last it happened.  I couldn't leave my house.  When i went to school my cousin had to carry me into teh buidling because they were everywhere.  I am terrified of when they come in late may.  Estimates are that there could be up to 1.5 million cicadas per acre at the peak of their mating season.  Anyone else on the east coast want to huddle up in a bomb shelter with me for 6 weeks??

Now thats many...!!!

As of crowds, I dislike them but I dont really fear them... I just dont like the idea of the smell of sweat and hot air... especially if that crowd is not my type of people! Like party animals or those disco peeps.

nons55, now stop that silly! youre making me feel nuts! LOL. Trapped in a cooler, thats insane... I rather eat live tarantullas!

Of course, I also fear pain... especially for no reason. But I guess just like any fears, we can overcome it when our loved ones is hurt or something, aside from that, I'd hesitate... even for 1 million dollars!

well.. phobia.. i also don't have specific phobias...

I don't like snakes, lizards or any scaly, crawling and cold blooded animals..  except of course of fishes.. i remember when I was in grade school, in our schoold service, our driver's companion threw me a long, limp, and scaly object.. til i noticed that it's head was cut-off.. it was a dead snake.. it gave me creeps and can't get close to snakes.. i won't enjoy petting zoos...

not much claustrophobic.. but i don't like tight spaces.. maybe it was caused when I was a kid we used to play hide and seek and i used to hide underneath the bed, sofa or car.. i would feel short of breath.. i can't even imagine myself trapped in an elevator for a long time with no lights...

i hate shopping sales... too many people..  but if it would be due to parties, discoes, or bars.. it would be ok for me..Grin

another maybe.. is that I like high places.. but not looking down from up there.. and i get weak knees after a rollercoaster ride or the likes that involved speed and height... :barf:

I am not afraid of heights - but I am afraid of falling.  Only places where I can picture myself falling upset me.  Someone who's genuinely afraid of heights can't go on elevators, airplanes, etc. and nothing like that bothers me - it's only when it's wide open and I think about falling.

I am scared of spiders.

I used to be deathly afraid of needles also.  It was so bad that I required sedation by the dentist or else I got violent if he tried to give me a novacaine shot.  But I got over that one for my own benefit when I decided to try and donate blood.  Since November, I have successfully donated blood 3 times and I have gotten myself over my fear of needles!  Cheesy Cheesy

Back in 1981 I was in a car accident that tore my right eye it took three operations to get it the way it looks today. Last operation took 4 hours and I was to remain awake during entire operation so I could open and close my eyelid to see how it worked. Operation was a skin graph skin from my left eye lid was put on my damamged right eyelid. Now I was strapped down so I wouldnt move and as said I was awake I could see the needles and scalple. So now after that I have a "phobia" over anything getting near my eyes in fact I get nervous if someone even gets close and looks at my eyes!

Worse part was not being strapped down (this included my head) but see both needle and scalple coming toward my eyes

You were a teen back then david? If I were in that position, I would close my eyes... blood!

Yeah spiders are creepy, but usually the big hairy ones. Smaller ones are quite ok, and here in the Philippines, we have this spider fight, much like a cock fight.
