Major Car Wreck

Well, around here ANYTHING is major.  I'm just happy that my car wasn't touched.   Sorry, but I only have ONE more payment on it.

I left the office headed to town to take the Willow Leaf mailout to the post office. On the way, I stopped at Lake Martin Nursery to pay for the GORGEOUS fern I bought at lunch today.  I was by the highway attempting a left hand turn.   A slow older lady was trying to turn into the nursery in front of me.  She simply needed to go around me and turn on my right side.  I even motioned her to do that.  All of a sudden, the car behind her smashed right into her knocking her several feet down and off the road.  It was all right in front of me and all I could  think, in slow motion, was please do not HIT MY CAR.  After the impact, which totalled both cars, I unbuckled my seatbelt and went after the lady who was hit.  Many others were stopping and doing the same thing. But I got to her first.  Luckily she had an older model car with no airbags. She was clutching her chest and I was afraid she may have a heart attack.  I was shaking so badly I was totally freaked and in the moment.   I managed to escape further drama by telling the sheriff that he had my name and phone number if further questioning was necessary.  One of my co-workers was even there and knew that I HAD to get to the post office for this mail-out.  So I left. Shakily. And on the way to town, passed 2 ambulances and a firetruck.   I did get to the post office in time for the mail-out.  But I am still shaking at this moment.  I am the safest driver I know. But don't ever think it couldn't happen to YOU.   Please slow down and keep aware of who is in front of you!

Thank you all.   That lady driving the lead car needs some prayers.  I think she is gonna have some major whip lash goin on.  I felt reallly badly because I was simply trying to motion her into the parking lot the best way.  I had no idea she was gonna get slammed from the rear end.  At the speed the last driver was going, had I been hit, it would have slammed me into another universe.  Let me just take this moment to say that I believe in angels.  Amen.    Smiley

Oh My Cry  So glad you are OK, so sad for the older lady.  Maybe she went to the hospital and was checked out and other than the beegeebers being scared out of her and a change of underwear, she's OK also.

It just wasn't your time, LL, not your time.  God isn't finished with you yet Cool

So glad to hear you are ok physically and that no one died because of this accident.

I wittessed a similar accident  in my town when I was stopped at a light. An elderly man who was stopped at the light all of a sudden started driving right into the side of a trailer truck passing by. It was all sort of slow motion, I sat there with a front row seat watching his car go under this big truck and than the wheel of the truck slowly crushing the car until it could move no further. I had to fill out a police report and never did hear what happened to that man. I avoid that intersection now.

And when I saw the title to this posting I thought you might be reporting about the horrible accident here in Maine on Mothers day.
http://www.pressherald.com/news/state/040512accident.shtml
3 woman, all in their 20's rented a large car and piled their little kids in, 7 passengers in all. No one was wearing seatblets or kids in car seats. They were heading to a town 6 hrs north to visit a man they met on the internet. They told family members they could drive up and back in 1 day, figured they could make the trip up in 4 hrs on a busy Mother's day crowded highway. The driver had her license suspended 5 or so years ago but had another women rent the car. So they headed north, and when they ran into traffic they decided to pass in the break down lane. At that time they were speeding along at 90mph, clipped another car, flipped over, smashed into a tree and women and children went flying out of the car and all 7 died instantly. The entire interstate was closed for most of the day. It was the second worst highway accident in Maine history. All who died were local people so it has hit this area really hard. No wonder I hate driving! You always have to be a defensive driver watching out for that crazy person with no regard for their safety or anyone else.  You can be doing everything right and have some speeding car ram right into you.
I'm so glad you are just fine.
