I started out with a similar one and it is a great way to learn how to start your digital photo experience.  Then when you are ready to upgrade, you will know what features you will want.

Definately a good idea to start with easy stuff, and then upgrade when you know what you like/want.

I have a Sony  Angry and the cam itself isnt bad, but the Image Transfer/Mixer program that comes with it is a pain in the neck. My Xmas pictures are still in it. I cant figure out how to burn them on a cd, or how to view them with another program than this sony one.  Embarassed I am usually kinda smart with PC and softwares... but this one really got me wondering.

So, Lakelady, if I have one advice for you its to have someone knowledgeable in this field, very close to you. Wink

my opinion is to pass on this no name brand camera and wait until you can get one that is from a reputable company and it easy to use. The Kodak easy share cameras aren't all that bad. And you need to be able to purchase memory cards/sticks for your camera and I'm not all that sure that a no name brand memory card would be that easy to find. Why spend even $30 on an unknown when you can save up another $70 later and get a really decent camera. My opinion only.

SIB..I have never gotten either the sony or the "brand name escapes me" softwares for my digital cameras to work for me. I will pm you a trick on how to get your pictures without using them.

I also have a digital camera question.....I have a Kodak easyshare, it eats batteries like they are chocolate candy!  Do any of you have this problem, and is there a way to make it stop?

It might be worth investing in rechargable batteries if that's the case.  I've had my powershot a year and a half now and have only changed the batteries 4 times (course I don't use it every day, but just the same...)

I just purchased on on Ebay recently. One thing I would keep in mind is to get one with decent megapixels and the most important thing is Optical zoom.

Optical zoom allows you to get further distances and keep clarity. My first purchase was a Kodak Easyshare (mine also ate batteries like mad) but it was only digital zoom and I found anything beyond 3-5 feet would be blurry. The digital zoom would bring it closer but it could not focus on it, thus bad pictures.

My recent purchase was a Fuji S3000. I love it! I bought a nice package deal on Ebay and got 2 lenses (wide angle and telephoto zoom) in addition I got 3 filters for different lighting, etc. I have rechageable batteries for it as well as a memory card and it works beautifully.

I would highly suggest checking Ebay if you find a model you like for a good deal.

Mr. Mum just got me a Kodak Easy Share 5.0 MP.  I got a docking station, which recharges the camera all the time on the dock.  Saves on batteries an easily transfers the pics

I have wondered if I should buy the dock for mine, I had no idea it charged the camera.  At the rate mine's using batteries, I think it would pay for itself!

Thanks Rhune, I'll check the Canon Powerpoint out for sure.  You and Reset certainly gave me great infor on which Laptop to purchase.  It is wonderful and I love having it to play with if I don't care to go downstairs.

Mr L was going to purchase a digital camera for my birthday and I told him not to, for I had no idea which one to even select.

Just for fun and to check out the CD, we purchased two disposables to take with us and should be getting the pic tomorrow and the CD discs.
