Greatest person who ever lived?

For me this is my Grandfather this little 4' 11" man gave to all he knew NEVER seeking or asking for anything in return. I recall visits to my Granparents when this man would take my sister adn myself out hiking to park etc etc now as we all know kids have endless energy this man wore us out! even in his 60s! the man had a heart of gold as I said he gave freely of his time whenever asked with NO thought of reward. When he passed I was in my mid to late teens and even then I knew I would never meet a greater man! All who knew him loved him. If I can be half the man my Grandfather was then I can truly be proud and honor his memory and what he taught me about unconditional love. I could go on forever about him but any tribute I could write would not even tell a fraction of the truth of such a great man. for me he truly was "The Greatest Man whoever Lived" So I made this thread to honor him and others like him. so who is your greatest person?!

I wish I knew my grandfathers, one died before I was even born, the next one died just months after I was born.

My Dad, without a doubt!  When he died one of the deacons said to our minister, "you won't have to think up someing good to say about him".  So true!
My Dad would take me to the store with him and let me pick out the 25 lb bag of flour during the war when some foods were rationed and we split it with my Grandparents.  Mother then made a dress for me.

I used to go hunting with him and he took me everywhere with him, that is until I figured out I was a girl! Roll Eyes

My Dad never abused me or my Mother in any way.  We were never cursed or talked to in an unkind way.  My Dad was one of the kindest men I've ever known, said nothing mean about anyone.  When he came home from work he would say, "Hi Mug"  He would kiss me on the forehead and tell me I had the prettiest little mug he'd ever seen, thus the nickname!

When I learned to ride a bike, he went to the western auto store and bought the prettiest bike they had for sale.  My Mother thought he paid too much, but I loved the bike, it had a horn and a basket on the front of it and was blue and white.

My Dad loved all of us so much and we watched this kind, good Christian man fight cancer for 7 years.   To me, this is greatest man who ever lived.

Now for the ones still living, would be my Uncle whom I adore and I call him, Uncle Daddy, for he is like a second Dad to me.  The next man in line for my greatness  is my husband, Mr L., for my life has been greater since he came into it!  How were we to know just how great it would be!

How fitting you all have such wonderful men ion your lives....so close to fathers day too!

I also would say my Dad. I so wish he was still here with us as I know how much good he could have done for this world , he had already done so much but was interrupted part way through ...

I could go on for days about how special he was but I still  Cry when I think about it....seems I need therapy.. Wink

The greatest person who ever lived?  Why, Jesus of course!!!  The only man who impacted the entire earth for every generation....the only man who is 100% honest and true....and who would never leave you...

Pretty hard to top that, I would say......   Grin

BK, you're right, but we're talking about the greatest men in our lives.  Do you have someone?

Actually, the man who has had the greatest influence on my values and ethics and how to "manage" people was a 1stSgt I had in the Marines.  Richard Vazquez did 3 tours in 'Nam with Force Recon and won the purple heart.  He took me under his wing when I was a young Sergeant and mentored me in how to be a good Marine leader......his teachings reverberate in my spirit today and those principles continue to guide me through this day.....

BUT...my Mom actually is the greatest person I know.

Since Father's Day is near, does anyone have a favorite/greatest person story to share with us?

I have to list my mother.  I think both my parents were great and equally influential on my life, but outside of myself and my family, my mother is a child psychologist who works with the toughest of cases.  She has helped and influenced so many lives other than my own.  She has literally helped thousands of families and individuals over the years find happiness again, and I really admire her for it.
