Brooke- Most outstanding, Honor roll for entire year and, perfect attendance for trimester

While I'm sure the children's teachers are particialy responsible for receiving an applause, and the fact that the obviously have "brain smarts" - a HUGE amount of praise for their success  goes to you and to Pilar.

You two have been good parents and this is just the beginning of positive notifications your little ones will receive.  Home life is so so so important for children to help them want to excel at school.

When I made this topic it wasnt my intent to get praise for me and Pilar it for the kids they earned it! they all worked very hard all year to earn this what small part Pilar and I played would accomplish nothing without their efforts.............by the way they are being taken out to dinner tonight to place of their choice as a reward

Congrats to them and you. I am a firm believer that parents need to be involved with helping make their children better students. Sadly too many feel the teachers are to blame when things go bad. Teachers can help a student be better but the parents are the true teachers.

We are having trouble with my 7 year old. She is well above her class and does not think she needs to do homework as she knows the material. We keep working with her to emphasize it and hopefully it will start to stick. We don't want her to get bad habits now that will hurt her later.

Our 9 year old is a GATE student and is not at the top her is class IS the top but loves homework and tries to do it soon as she gets home! We used this as a tool she now helps her younger brother and sister with their homework! Once they got home I was able to see who got what award I forgot I was so surprised so here they are

Brooke- (GATE student) Most Outstanding, Honor Roll for entire year, Attendance for trimester

Angel- Citizenship award, Most improved, Honor Roll for trimester, attendance for trimester

Sonny- Citizenship Award, Most Outstanding, Honor Roll for trimester, attendance for trimester

I might add their attendance would have been perfect but we kept them out one day to go to Disneyland

David & Pilar, knowing that you are so proud of the children I will add my congratulations to all of you. Children do it but they do it with a lot of positive reinforcement from home Cool

Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool  to all of you.

So, where did they choose to have dinner?  McDonald's or CiCi's Pizza?
Kids haven't changed a lot since mine grews up Roll Eyes

hehehe, tell me I don't remember Roll Eyes, but they had a great time, no doubt!

Boradamer, you daughter is bored.  Ask her teacher to give her extra work to do.  This was a problem for my grand daughter when she started first grade.  Her teacher gave her different work to do and all was well for the remainder of the year.

When she went into kindergarten we tried to get her bumped to 1st. The old principal refused and said it was state law that she be in K since she was 5. She was soooo bored and the teacher got copies of 1st grade work for her to do while the rest did K stuff.

This year she is bored, again. The teacher is very busy so we have been getting math/reading things ourselves and working with her at home. My wife and I appreciate the K teachers extra effort but we don't feel it is their role to keep doing this.

They did an eval on her at the begining for a 'gifted learner' class. They felt she was just not there so we know she is close. Thing is everyone tells us 2nd grade is harder with more homework. We hope next year will be the year she has to work and not ride on her knowledge. Regardless, we will be there to help guide her.
