...being a housewife!

This is one job I truly love!  Being "just a housewife" has been one of the most rewarding "jobs" I've ever had!  NO, this is my career!

When my children were growing up I was a stay at home Mom and thoroughly enjoyed all the activites the two children were in, and the ones I was needed for also!  Then my life changed and I HAD to work, always hated it, for I like home and family.

After 7 years of this so called freedom, that to me was total punishment, My Knight came around the corner in a bright red truck Grin

Then Mr L and I married and  soon I was a stay at home Mom again.  In late 1992, I decided a part time job would be Ok.  (All the children were married or where they wanted to be, career wize) Cool

0  Then I got more and more involved and years later was decorating homes for Christmas.  Now this is hard work Lips Sealed to say the least!

Back to a 3 day a week part time job for me!  Struggling with the ida of retirement for over a year, then made the decision and did it!

Being "retired" and free to do what we want, when we want, is the greatest for the two of us!  That is, as long as the money we allot for a trip holds out! Roll Eyes
We do try to budget the amount we take with us each time, or he does and I follow.

Being a homemaker and doing little things for my husband and family is the greatest feeling of accomplishment I've ever had.  I truly hope all of you enjoy some of these daily events are ones you also enjoy.  Everyone had a good day.

Please post your thoughts and feelings on this subject, now and for the future Cool

Thanks for this post Luci!

You know this issue was essentially the demise of my marriage...I didnt want to ever have babies unless I could stay home and raise them, no offence to anyone who has their kids in daycare but this was just something that was important to me....

My husband (soon to be ex-I'll let you know the exact date of the divorce party Wink   )decided we couldnt have babies cause we couldnt afford it (we had plenty of money ) but he didnt want to give up his lifestyle, and in addition told me he didnt ant me to get fat and other things that arent suitable to say here after being pregnant and giving birth...he was serious- he had a vasectomy shortly after we separated...oh well....

My mom stayed home with all of us and I think it made a huge difference, my brother Dan's wife Kat stays home and is the best mom and wife ever... she feel s totally fullfilled, I think that its terrible that society now makes you feel like less of a productive person when you chose to stay home and look after your family...its not easy and it IS important!!!

Previous to my seperation my husband was always so proud to bring his co-workers and friends ,family over to see a well kept house and garden...I dont think people realize how much work is involved, and how important (well to me) it is to be proud of and comfortable in your home.

My previous life included a wife who stayed home while the children were small.  It was well worth any financial sacrifice to ensure the kids had a great home life and the wife wasn't trying to do 2 jobs!!!!

You ladies are right on the money with this thread!!! Cool  Cool  Cool  Cool

Cool  This thread is in no way a Housewife versus Career.
I was thinking about how I feel outloud.  Everyone has to do their own thing and what is best for them.  We all need to feel good about ourselves.
This is the key to being fulfilled and happy. Grin

wow... luci... being a housewife a very noble task... it may not be professionally rewarding but.... it is the noblest task a person can do.... surrendering yourself to your family....

Pau, I didn't surrender to my family, I'm doing what I WANT to do!
....and whoever thinks taking care of a home and kids until they leave home doesn't require being a profession at many things is so wrong!

I had my days of a business suit, high heels with tiny straps and a sample/brief case.  Today, no kids at home, just us, and we're having fun!

I enjoy being home with my husband Cool Tongue Kiss  ..........the days he doesn't play  :golf:, then I do my things, errands, manicure, etc.........

I do believe these are called "Our Golden Years" and we intend to have fun until our health wears out when we're about 100 Grin
