Overplayed Radio Songs

Which songs on the radio these days do you think you will gag over if you hear them just one more time?

My top 2 are Train's Calling All Angels and Sheryl Crow's The First Cut is the Deepest. Whenever I happen to turn on the radio or get in my car, one of these songs WILL be playing. It's nauseating.

YES, I relate!  Martina McBride's "Concrete Angels" and for sure
"My Heart Will Go On" from "The Titanic" film sung by Celine Dion.
This overplayed song almost made me not like to hear her anymore!!

Also another song recorded both by Theresa Yearwood and LeeAnn Rhimes.  Nicholas Cage starred in the film, but I cannot think of the title at this moment! Roll Eyes

Knowing I have a list of other YUKKY songs I'm sick of hearing by them being overplayed, this is all in my memory now.
Ya''ll do know I'm getting on in years :laff: :laff: :laff: :laff: :laff:

Unfortunately, today's poor listeners have to endure the same songs over and over and over again because it's just a handful of companies that now control the radio airwaves in most areas of the country.
In the name of progress, disc jockeys are a dying breed.  Most of the songs played, whether the station is pop, rock, country or easy listening . . . are on hour, two hour or longer tapes.  We hear the same popular songs over and over because that's what they want us to hear and then go out and buy.  It's all about ratings and market share to the big corporations who control the stations.
Your "disc jockey" may not even be in your area, he/she may be miles or states away.  I would venture to say that if you checked, you would be surprised at how many "on air personalities" have been eliminated from your local radio station's employment rolls in the past 3-4 years.
I know that Clear Channel Communications, the Corporation that owns most of the stations in the central Virginia area has been whacking away at our local stations employment rosters like a Samuri Chef gone mad!!

Why  yes, LL, I'm only a year older than you Grin

Seriously, the music industry is so controlled and one has to literally "buy" into it for a record to be played.  Don't you ever wonder how a song is on the chart at #1 the first day it is released.

We could have bought into the music business for our son, mortgage the house as Garth Brooks' folks did, but that kind of gamble is not for us.   Several others also paid their way into the recording business as well.

Don't ever think the industry doesn't blacklist also.

Too bad a good singer/musician  can't make it on his or her own these days and go on their talent.

Oh, other songs that have been overplayed is or was
"The Rose" and "Wind Beneath My Wings".
In my opinion Roll Eyes

The song is "How Do I Live"

(singing) How do I live without you, I want to know
(gunshots)
(radio crashes to floor)

:laff:

I thought radios play songs that listeners requested? Of course they could insert a song or two that are 'paid', but mostly, the songs should be what people want to hear.

On our Country Station they always play that song that goes' Save a horse, ride a cowboy'- allthough I kinda like the premise , its played way too often.

They play what they're told to play by the owners.
Sometimes they do have request times.

The music industry is very very controlled!

classic rock stations play too much lynyrd skynyrd (although grant it is the south and there are hardly any new songs on "classic" stations)

Matchbox 20 is way overplayed on the mix station here in knoxville

I am sick of the new Tim McGraw song.  "live like you were dying" It's depressing and they play it every ten minutes

Agreed with Celine Dion's titanic song! I DID start to dislike her after that one and have not liked her since.

As for the corportations, why would we go out and my a CD for a song that they Play EVERY TEN MINUTES ON THE RADIO!  I can save my 20 bucks and go to the zoo and watch the cute animals. I haven't bought myself a new CD in YEARS

I understand the pain you all feel about listening to the same shitey songs over and over. I allmost had to check into a looney house during the backstreet boys/NSYNC years. But I found the light, I found a way to wipe those songs right out of my head!

1.   MP3 playing car stereo, portable MP3 player and over 8,000 songs on my hard drive.

2. When I do listen to the radio I listen to alternative radio stations that tend to be anti establishment, so they wont play the big hits but they do play some kool music.

3. Also for a good rock & roll station theres only one true cure     99.3 The Fox Rox
