TV shopping

My TV kicked the bucket last night  Shocked

I was wondering if its possible to just go online and buy one?

I dont know a thing about electronics, I just want a basic TV with a remote...no manly ,man stuff as  it would be wasted on me....so can I do this online or is there such a difference in quality that I have to go and look at them to check for differences?

Ofcourse I will do some reading up on them first, unless anyone can suggest a good make and model for me.

How annoying...I must be the only person alive without a second TV, and its not like I am an addict but Id like to not have to wait too long without one....any tips?

I would go to circuitcity.com or sears.com.    Surely you can find something basic at either one and at a good price.  Happy shopping!     Smiley

I have a different dilemma.  My 2nd TV kicked the bucket too recently.  Now how and where do I dispose of it?

Oh my god LL....your TV died??  Embarassed  Cry  Why...it should be buried with full honors, of course!!!   Wink  Grin

Seriously folks.....go with a reputable name here....the picture quality varies greatly between good TVs and junk TVs....

Shop around, but it's hard to beat BestBuys (not sure if they are in Canada though)....and I recommend Hitachi.....as good as Sony, only cheaper!!!

My advice is to go to Best Buy or Sears and specifically ask for/look at floor models.  You can often get a really good deal on floor models, like half of what you'd pay for it new, and they swap out floor models a lot, so they usually don't have much wear and tear.

Also, if you find a really good deal on a TV online, you should check with Sears, because often times they will do price matching to online prices, but you have to tack on what you'd pay for shipping and handling.  They don't exactly advertise it, but the prices at Sears are negotiable.  Print out a page of the tv on the website you find and bring it in.  My dad saved over $200 on his tv that way.

Some of the new TV's are huge.  Take up a lot of floorspace.  Have you thought about a flat screen? - that hangs on (or in) a wall?

Is it possible that you have a WalMart there near you in BC?  Sears and Future Shop - aren't they kind of expensive?

Well, other than that - and unless you have beau que bucks - most televisions are pretty much the same inside - regarless of brand name.

Personally, I wouldn't purchase a floor model for the simple reason of the warranty.  Many times it doesn't cover repairs because it was a floor model.

Have fun shopping and I hope you get what you really want!   Wink

Yup Summeridol, Id love a flatscreen but i didnt want to spend that kind of money...then I saw this little one that is very unintrusive and rethought the whole thing...I guess I am still thinking on it.

My brother brought one here from his place to get me through while I research, I really didnt think it would be so hard.....and so much $ Shocked

The falt screens are not cheap that's for sure...if you're just looking for a low cost replacement I'd look for a floor model, usually they have 5 or 6 available at Best Buy and they are clearly marked and still come with warranty, etc.
