Rain, Rain, Go Away...........
« on: Jun 28th, 2004, 5:36pm »
Quote Quote Modify Modify

......it has rained 20 days of 28 in the month of June.  Homes are being flooded, lives are lost, livestock and family pets.  Cars and trucks swept down rivers.

Counties in Texas have a severe problem from all the damage the rains have done.  No letup in sight, for the weather news says it willl rain off and on the rest of the week.  We don't mind OFF, it's the On that is devastating to so many.

We've been joking about the rain, it's no joke any longer.  We are so thankful we do not live in a low lying area or on a river or lake at this time.We won't be driving west for awhile.

Our weatherman (Beaumont, TX)  reported we are 20 inches over normal for this time of year.   This stuff has been hanging over us forever, it seems.    Thank goodness, we don't live in a low area, but even where we are, we are affected by too much rain.   At some point, our septic systems will be overwhelmed, then look out!

it's nice that you guys are in safe areas... I hope that the weather goes well...

here... by next month and August where the strongest typhoons arrive, we would be seeing the same scenarios... well actually we are seeing some of that in the northern towns already due to the rainy seasons...

we have the opposite problem here ~ not enough rain and plenty (over 100) of forest fires already in bc this season. we would gladly take your rain.

Ditto EEG, We are in year 9 of a drought and would gladly take rain from the parts that are getting more than their fair share. Maybe we can build a pipeline from Texas to Arizona.  Smiley

it's sad when such rains claim the lives of loved ones and pets yet here in australia the lack of rain is doing the exact same thing!!!!!

We Have now been in drought for over 12 months and have heavy water restrictions!!! We can't water our lawns or gardens, wash our cars etc etc. We need permits to fill pools and the like.

Livestock are dying, crops are dwindling and our economy is suffering.  We would gladly take your rain....we need it so very desperately....it's come to us also having to buy bottled water in some parts of the country. Even now in the middle of our winter we are experiencing very warm, clear, sunny days without the hint of rain....what I would give for a huge downpour of rainHuh??

70% of Texas is under flood warnings.

We had thought there would be a drought here until the rains came the first of June.
We'll pray for rain for all of you in the drought areas.

I hope you guys will be safe, and that rain will stop.

I LOVE RAIN AND CLOUDY WEATHERS MORE THAN ANY OTHERS! But its not fun to see it destroy people, its very scary...

But I guess its a universally balanced huh? Some are experiencing drought while others floods...  Hope all will end good.

At this time, the rain apears to be very universally unbalanced.
I do know if this keeps up, we will not be driving in the direction
of the flood areas!

We too are above flood levels, thank goodness.  This rain is just amazing, it seems like it will never stop.  The day before yesterday, the Ft. Worth zoo flooded, washing away fences, and other important zoo things.  Yesterday, it was Six flags.  I think that was the first time ever.  Rain is still in the forecast, and it's scary to think about what might flood next.

The grass in my yard is growing so fast, I seriously think I could see it grow if I watched it for a few minutes!

We have a heck of a storm here, although there's no rain, there's just strong winds. Still, it's depressing. I don't like rainy seasons, everything's wet (including me). I only like it when I'm sleeping.

I remember the movie The Day After Tomorrow, the weather being unbalanced. I hope this 'unbalance-ness' stop soon. More water to those who need it! Less water to those who have more than enough!

send some of that rain up here,

we normally get a large amount of rain in BC, but we are going on to at least a couple weeks of no rain and HOT

we will get some huge fires again without some rain

The extremes of weather are always hard on those living through them.  I had hoped Australia had rain since those dreadful fires, one of which burned Bec and her daughter out.   I'm sorry to hear they are still in drought.  A few summers ago, we were on pins and needles because of drought....and living in an area covered with pines, with good reason.

I used to think someone learning to control weather would be a good thing, but then reality hit.........some maniac would be sure to use that ability against others.   So, I guess we'll have to live through our trials, and hope and pray that whatever adverse weather is affecting us, changes soon.
