migraine hell

after 24 hours of suffering through a migraine, i finally called my doctor at noon today. (at that point i had been in bed for just over 12 hours, had had far more than my share of migraine meds (prescription) and had been given healing touch twice from a roomie with no real effect though it worked the last time this happened.) i wanted to know if she thought i should head for emerg (i strongly dislike people who go to emerg for things that do not merit the visit ~ like a deadly hangnail. if you have had a deadly hangnail, please forgive me but i think you know what i mean. Wink ). she told me either she could come to me or i could go there. as luck would have it, a friend, who has a car, called and offered to take me. i went.

i have never had to have a morphine shot to relieve the pain before today. i have thought about it in the past but have not gotten to this place before now. after a small shot of morphine and another of gravol, i started to feel numb but better.  should this happen again, she also gave me a prescription for something morhpine like to take as a last resort.

i really, really dislike migraines. anyone else?

I have never experienced a migraine, ever.  But based on how miserable my best friend is during one of his migraines, I can understand how awful you must be feeling.  Please except my condolences and I will pray that somehow you are relieved of them.  Best wishes and hope you feel a lot better!  Smiley  Lips Sealed

I too have never had to experience a migraine, but my bf gets them once in a while.  I don't think they have ever lasted that long, or meritted an emergency room visit, so i can only imagine the agony that you must have been in.  Hopefully it will be a long long time before you feel that again

For those of you who have never had one, it is horrible.  Just imagine the worst headache in the world that will not leave!  Thankfully I no longer have them.

EG, I do understand your pain.  I know you've tried elimanating certain food, drinks, so what is left?  This could be stress from your studies, for aren't you still in college?

Good Luck and we'll pray they leave you totally!

Poor baby, KA.  I'm fairly sure I know a little about your pain.  For a few years, I've been having headaches too.  I've never been diagnosed as having migrains though.  They come on fast and strong and leave areas of my head/face sore.   Now I'm told those were strokes.   Shocked

Could you maybe go to a specialist who deals with patients who are migrain prone?

In the meantime - I sent you must love and prayers,
