NOTE _ I just now saw this posted in the Surviver Archives and transferred it to this thread. Reading this gave me cold chills. I called her last weekend and didn't get her, she called me back when we were out. I was going to call her later this afternoon and check on her.

Hi,

I am Miss Wings Daughter. Miss Wings (Sharon) had a terrible stroke Friday July 30th.
We were out of town, when we got back we took her to St. Boniface Hospial on Aug 3rd.
She has problems with her speech, her left arm and hand, and her mind is not the same right now.
She was transferred to stroke rehab on Thursday where they believe she will be for 3 to 6 weeks. She is on the 4th floor Wing E room 17. In case anyone wants to send messages, her name is Sharon Gezelius.
I don't know at this time if she will be able to contact any of you again, but I should let you know she cares alot about many of you and spoke of your conversations quite frequently.
I need to gather some of her things and go to the hospital right now, I hope this email gets to the right people.

Sorry for the bad news!

Tears are rolling down my face right now. I talked with her a few weeks ago, realizing that she was on a dangerous pathway. I do have her name and address and also her daughters address and phone numbers.

Two weeks ago when I called her I BEGGED her to go to the Emergency Room. This bad stroke possibly could have been prevented.

As she is in rehab, hopefully she will get her spunk going and get well.

Prayers and cards of well wishes is about all we can do now.

I've just now hung up the phone after speaking with the SIL, Quinn.
Wings DOES NOT have a phone in her room, so it will do us no good to try and call her at this time. Her daughter isn't back home yet from the hospital and we will talk toihgt when she gets home and calls me and if we're out I'll call her when we return home.

He told me she slurs her words, but then I knew this already from our phone conversation by some of the things she said or the things she said that did not sound right! She tries to get out of bed but then starts to fall.

As I stated to Quinn, I've been going through this with my Mom for years now and do know the signs.

How I wish she had gone on to the ER, and maybe this could have been prevented Cry

Poor Sharon. Sad

I wish her the best, for a speedy and full recovery, or if a full recovery is not possible, a recovery that allows her to function as she'd like. Most of us know Sharon's health has been failing for awhile now and while this is not entirely unexpected that she would have another stroke, it's horribly disappointing. I will be thinking of her and her family. :wail:

It's very distressing to hear this news. I consider Wingsy a friend from way back. From what he had written in recent months we all knew she was fragile, but hoped she'd get some help before this happened. I wrote her a long note last week, but it didn't go, and I lost it. I didn't have time right then to try to write another, and now wish I had made the time.
Luci, when you talk to Deborah, please send my love and hopes for her recovery. I hope her son can fly in to see her.

I've spoken with her daughter just now. Sharon is very confused, thinks she is in the room with her Mother and it is another lady! She had to be restrained to her bed for when she tries to walk, she falls. She will be in rehab 3-6 weeks. Hopefully she will come out of this ordeal as best possible. Deborah thinks she has other strokes since being admitted to the hospital also. Sharon's thinking is very confused.

I asked her to convey to Sharon that she is being thought of and prayers asked for a full recovery.

We will be in touch again later this week.
If any of you would like Sharon's address to send her cards, PM me and I will send it to you.

Now it is in God's hands and it will be one day at a time or step.
