Thumper

So here I am walking through my living room and I happen to see something on the floor up against one of my stereo speakers. I get down on my hands and knees to see what it is and it's a newborn baby rabbit. Eyes still closed and only 2 inches long. So of course I freak out and can't figure out how it got there. If Tabby had brought it in it would be maimed or dead. But this little thing is totally intact. So naturally the first thing I did was call my sister the wildlife expert and she asked if I was certain it was a rabbit. I said well hell yes, it has little rabbit ears sticking up though they are very tiny. So she told me what to do. I got a shoebox and put soft pillowcases in it and then picked the little bugger up (he tried to hop) and put him in there. He's in my closet now. Sis said all I can do is keep him warm and safe. He most likely won't live another 24 hours. But if he does I will take him to the vet in the morning. I can't believe all the drama that comes with living in the country. What next? No, better not say that. lol

Welll, duh here, feed that 'lil bunny!
Call the vet or wildlife guy and feed
him something so he won't die!

p.s.  do you have an eye dropper of any kind, this is what you will need to drop milk down his throat!

Awww, you have a new pet/bunny Grin

My Mom is here and she says feed it like you would a puppy.
This is remembers, for she has hand fed several puppies this way.

Huh Huh HuhHow the heck did it get into your living room?  There might be other babies and a mama rabbit just outside close.  Do you have a bucket or empty flower pots or the like outside?  My brother couldn't mow last spring, because a mama rabbit had her babies in a next on the mower deck.  That was on the backside of his garage wall.   You'd think they'd be more secluded.

My husband thinks your cat might have brought it in.  Different animal species adopt from another all the time.

Awwww that little runny babbit is sooooo cute!!!!!

How's he/she doing? I hope it will survive.

I know what you mean about living in the country......when I lived in the outback we were constantly rescuing injured animals....kangaroos, wombats, possums and even a few foxes!!!!

I'm sure you're little baby will do well especially as it is in your care!

Keep us posted!

I know I posted to you a while ago about looking in your house for the Mother and maybe some more bunnies.
Yes, Tabby may think it is her baby!  Oh dear Roll Eyes, and some poor Mama rabbit is searching frantically for her baby!

Thumper was barely alive when I woke up this morning.  He was already getting cold and barely breathing.  I debated on whether to even take him to the vet.  I held him and warmed him up some and then managed to get some milk in him.  All of a sudden for the first time he let out a cry and it broke my heart.   He cried a few more times off and on and I decided to take him on in.  I doubt he will live but I did everything I could.  I will let you all know when I hear something.

luci, we finally decided that Tabby probably thought he was a kitten and brought him in unharmed.  Poor little bunny.    Sad
