If I try to make a long story short...
98.1 FM, CHOI Radio X is broadcasting the best rock music in Quebec, not only the city, but the whole province. We can listen to them via internet if we do not live in the area where they broadcast. At this point, I should say that, because of the 2 languages in the province, a ratio (60% +)of french music has been imposed to all Quebec radio stations to play, by the CRTC. Its annoying. Even though we do speak french, that doesnt mean we like french music, less french rock. CHOI fm doesnt always respect this rule, to the utmost satisfaction of the listeners. Wink

Sin # 1.

Then there is the radio guy, Jeff Fillion. He's a big mouth that tells it like it is, nice or not. I love this guy. He doesnt try to be nice to people to get BBM's rating. (BBM's ratings is how they mesure the amount of listener of a radio frequency). He is quite controversial, I admit. He sometimes say things that, especially when taken out of context, make him sound like a real coldhearted jerk. I do not agree with everything he says. Then why 380 000 fans for CHOI fm ?

In a 7 millions people province, in a one million people city, on about 2 millions possible listeners (city and area), he gets 380 000. They are number one in BBM's for over 2 years now. I refuse to think that we are 380 000 idiots. I believe that he and CHOI fmhas so many fans because of the way they denounce every stupid moves the governement and city administration make. They reaches people fof all age, of all education, people that are concerns with what the goverments do (or dont do) with the money.

I could go on and on.... but if you have never listened to CHOI 98.1, you cannot fully get the picture.

Jeff is a human being, a father, a husband, a citizen who pay taxes, who is concerned with our education system, our health system. He is pro sports, anti cigarette, anti drugs, pro Canada (he's so not a sovereignist). A good guy, who doesnt bother with being politically correct, but wants to see action taken for a better living environment....which isnt happening.

Before someone asks me, I want to say...
I believe in freedom of speech and diversity of opinion, although I do not approve some comments made by the speaker, I believe they had the right to speak their mind, as I have the right to change frequency (which I do sometimes) when I dont want to hear them.

If the CRTC succeeds in shutting down this radio station, its 40 direct jobs that are lost, 25 million dollars wasted and 380 000 frustrated voters awaiting the next governement election.
To think that I really really liked Paul Martin, and I was puting a lot of hopes in him and his governement..his silence on that matter makes me wonder.

I saw the Ottawa rally in the news but I really only got a smidgen of info. It's so great to hear what the station is like from a listener.

I will have to try to hear it when I am in Quebec.

Do you know if Quebec City is on the way to New Brunswick?

From Quebec city, you are at 3 hours from the New Brunswick limits. It will just be a nice stop before your final sprint ! Wink

You wont be in Quebec City if you stay on highway 20. You will be in Berniere, St-Nicolas, St-Redempteur, Levis...if you want to come to Quebec City, you'd have to cross one of the 2 bridges in St-Redempteur, over the St-Lawrence river.

So from Montreal, stay on Highway 20. Dont take the 40 Wink

I have 2 exams on August 25, which means I have a 2 hours lunch (10-12) and also that I will leave school at or around 2 o'clock. Will you be in the area after 2, or before ?

I was confused (as usual) with my schedule at school. On Wednesday the 25 we have no exams...just reg class, so it is possible for me to be with you anytime between 11:30 am and 10 pm. I dont want to miss the morning course (French Sad

) but I can miss the afternoon (English) course without any consequences...I do that often. Wink
