BTW, my biggest piece of advice is to trust your own instincts in motherhood.

That, and BREASTFEED!  It is economical (free), the amount is always right, the milk is the right temp and ready at a moment's notice, no bottles to mess with, it boosts a baby's immune system, breastfed babies have fewer illnesses and ear infections, you won't have your period while breastfeeding, you'll lose weight while breastfeeding, and it is something that only you can give your baby.  The bonding is incredible.

Good luck!

Rachel, I totally agree with Rupertydupe.  All three of my kids were breastfed, and never put on a bottle.  It's the very best thing a mom can do for her baby.  I have a very big "BUT" here, I hated breast pumping with a Passion.  If I had been working, my babies would have been weaned ASAP, because I could not tolerate the breast pump.  Whatever you decide, it will be the best choice for you.  DO NOT let anyone make you feel guilty for whatever choice you make.  Follow your heart.  Your choice will be the Right choice.

I was going to add something about your Mother-in-law, but maybe you have a much better relationship with yours than I do.  Gosh, I hope so.  If not, maybe she will just know when to butt out.

Every new Mother gets way to much advice.  I felt like any and everything I did was wrong for I had a Mother and 5 aunts alwayss telling me something different, plus 2 Grandmothers.  Don't let people drive you nuts with instructions.  Let it go in one ear and out the other and do what you feel best for you and your baby.  Somehow instinct takes over and you'll be fine!
And yes, breastfeeding is best for the baby.
Most of all include your husband, for at times he will be feeling left out and love and enjoy your baby! Grin
Time does pass way too fast, they grow up and time gets away quicker than you think it will.  Having my children in the house growing up was the happiest time in my life, for they were involved and fun!

The last 20 years have been very happy as, but in a different way! Tongue

That would be neat, for maybe for once I could tell something about a sonogram picture! Roll Eyes

Thank you all for your congratulations and advice. We do not plan to find out the sex of the baby until he or she is born. Unfortunately, I do not have a scanner up and working at this time, but I will definitely post the sonogram pictures as soon as I do. Thank you all for your support and advice, it is much needed and appreciated.

Hi everyone. Well, as you know, I'm pregnant. I'm in my 6th week right now, and I have never felt so sick in all my life. I have the worst morning (ha, more like morning, noon, and night) sickness. :toilet: Sometimes I wonder how so much pleasure can result in this much pain. Any advice y'all could give me would be much appreciated.

Jon and I are investing in a new scanner because ours just won't get up and running. I'll put a picture on soon.

Hon, I know you are feeling rough these days.
Crackers and water I guess is all that will help a bit.
MEN!  What do they know about morning sickness?  It is awful and I'm in such empathy with you.   Kiss
It will pass but it does seems forever right now.

And I still say, MEN, what do they know about morning sickness, no matter how many children you have!
It is far different from any other feeling sick at your stomach.
Mine lasted almost SEVEN months!  So don't tell me any man understands one iota about it!  They do not!

Some women don't understand it either, for that matter.  I never really had morning sickness with either of my pregnancies.  I just got a little quesy a couple of times but nothing more.  It felt the same as taking a multivitamin on an empty stomach.
