Grow Up!
« on: Sep 20th, 2004, 3:10pm »

I am getting increasingly irriatated with the tattling and chastising of individuals on this board. When are we all going to learn to grow up and take posts the the spirit that they are meant. I personally never mean to flame or belittle anyone. I believe that I can take teasing and opinions differing from mine in the spirit in which they are meant.

I feel that there are a few individuals that seem to pick others as targets and rather than discussing what may bother them personally with the individual they go off "tattling"

I think that the teenagers on this board are better at conducting themselves more maturely than the "adults".

Lets all take notice and learn how to grow up and play nice.

I don't think anyone here or anywhere has the right to hurt anyone else's feelings by making snide remarks or out right insulting them

that being said, I do think some here tend to be a little thin skinned and perhaps take things a bit more personally and insulting than they were meant to be

I am one who has quite a demented sense of humor so most of the ribbing going on back and forth I find humorous, however I hope that no one is hurt by things being said

I hope that those who were offended are alright now, and I hope those who did the "offending" are here to have fun still.

This site is great and I hope these bickerings will not be affected by this.  If one can't get along with another avoid them, avoid their threads etc etc  don't make everyone else sit and feel tension when trying to unwind by comnig to this site.

Again, maybe we shouldn't be so quick to assume that a comment is meant in a nasty way, and not in a good humored way.  In the same way, when we are making a comment we should consider who it is against, even in jest, some are just not cut out for the sarcastic humor, I however am........so bring it on  Grin

That being said PPP, David, bumper, I4S, everyone else whose feathers have been ruffled, I love ya and appreciate each and every one of you for different reasons.

Thanks Azure for your post. Let me add that I am not trying to fuel any fires, I just feel that if two adults have an issue with each other they should be able to resolve it maturely and privately. Thanks for allowing me to vent.

My 2 cents, which haven't been asked for, mind you, are:  teasing and sarcasm don't always translate in the printed word.  If something were said to a person's face he might not take offense.  But, in the written word, we don't have the "wink, wink" or any hint giving us the WRITER'S intention.  Unless we have come to know the writer very well over a period of time, it's even more likely we'll misunderstand.

I think we should learn from this.  It's not a good thing having one's feelings hurt, and it's also not a good thing to be blamed for something we did not intend.  I usually read over what I've written to see if it's clear, but even after I post something, I may find something I'd change.....and I do.

Peace, everyone.

All we can ask for is for everyone to consider the feelings of others when they post.   There are numerous communities out there that seem to thrive on conflict but what has made this forum so special is the LACK of rancor and flaming.  People post here because it IS such a friendly and divirse place.  Members of this community feel a certain degree of friendship with their other members and it shows in the manner in which they post.  Friends don't diss friends.

I'm kinda' caught between the proverbal rock and the hard place.  My job as Moderator is to address issues that are brought to me.  I don't go looking.  I'm not out to stifle anyone's creativity.  We do have rules here though, and my role is to just try to keep everyone headed in the right direction.
Let's hope that everyone has learned something from this.
