Guess who's coming to visit? TS IVAN!

Angry   You only thought he was gone.  Our weathermen have been following the remnant of IVAN that moved south, crossed over Florida again and has become a tropical storm once more.  It's going to give Texas some heavy rain.  We've been needing rain, actually, but I hope it keeps moving and doesn't stall anywhere.

This is one for the record books.

wow, I thought this was over

we had a ton of flooding damage from ivan here in northeast PA, roads are stioll closed and alot of businesses closed, some schools just reopened on a limited schedule

and to think, we only got a small percentage of what people in floriday have been getting all season, as well as the other states and countries affected.

Bless everyone during this

Maybe he will defy nature and make it all the way here to Arizona.   We desperately need the rain!

We don't expect much more than rain, which we need.  I just thought it's sorta amazing that these hurricanes are going in circles now.

hope the rain holds off for you Luci, here is a NY TIMES Report on Ivan's return:

Quote:
Stubborn Storm Hangs On in Busy Hurricane Season
By ANDREW C. REVKIN

Published: September 24, 2004

ome hurricanes just won't quit, and American shores yesterday were in the crosshairs of two such long-lived, meandering tempests.

The storm once called Hurricane Ivan, which was thought to have spent itself in torrents of earth-rending rain over Appalachia last weekend after bringing destruction to the Alabama-Florida border, was split in two after colliding with high pressure over the East Coast.

The storm is blamed for at least 60 deaths in the United States and 70 in the Caribbean.

Its obituary had already been written late on Sept. 16 by federal meteorologists, who issued a report concluding: "This is the last forecast/advisory issued by the National Hurricane Center on this system."

But in such a memorable hurricane season, such finality was bound to be ill advised. Part of the disintegrating storm spun south, drenched eastern Florida with heavy rain on Tuesday, and then crossed that storm-shredded state. It could then draw on the warm, storm-nourishing waters of the Gulf of Mexico and so was reborn.

There was some debate at first on Wednesday night, but forecasters at the National Hurricane Center agreed it should retain its name. Breaking from its usual deadpan tones, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration issued an update saying: "It sounds like the sequel to a very bad horror movie, but it's no joke. Ivan is back."

Yesterday the reborn storm blew into the Gulf Coast, lashing Louisiana with thunderstorms and 60-mile-per-hour winds. It was expected to linger over Houston and southeastern Texas through the weekend, carrying the threat of flooding.

It is rare, but not unheard of, for storms to revive after nearly dying, said Dan Brown, a forecaster at the National Hurricane Center in Miami.

It is also not uncommon for a hurricane to take extraordinarily

We got our rain, and not a deluge.   We had thunderstorms during the night and early morning.  One was so loud, it shook the whole house and everything in it.  About that time I was ready to see if I'd fit under the bed, but it soon moved away.  We just have drizzles left this morning, and I don't think it's going to linger.
