OK, I got mine, no reaction, no sickness, so you have no excuse!
Do you want to be sick for days, feeling really yukky?
Go get your flu shot today!  Grin

I had PLANNED on getting one for the very first time this year.  However, now with the shortage of vaccines I don't know if I'll be able to get one.

Go and check it out anyway.  This is only in some areas.
I used to never get one and got tired of having the flu every winter in February.
Last time I had it, I passed out, not a good feeling Roll Eyes

There are only a few flu shots available in Maine, most of our supply came from the company that had the bad supply. Rationing is in effect here, only small babies, and older folks over age 65, folks in nursing homes, health care workers or those with health problems will be allowed to the shots. I fall into none of those cagtegories. I have never had the flu but did get the shot last year for the first time, I guess this year I'll have to be very good at hand washing and staying away from crowds.

I was lucky as I got my shot on the 4th of Oct. during a regular appointment with my Maine family doctor.
 Now he has none.

I never get them. I am a firm believer in shots helping (like my allergy shots) but I just don't see the point in the flu shot.

Everything I have read is they sit back, make an edumuhkated guess on what strain of flu will hit this year and make a virus. The shot is only good for that strain so in my mind it is not necessary. Maybe I will change my mind one day but for now I let my fear of needles rule my judgement.  Cheesy

I don't have my shot yet, but I have an appointment for me and the boys.  My husband would rather have flu than a shot.  Roll Eyes

Many of the hospitals here will not be getting shots this season.  Apparently, on top of the Aventis problem, the primary supplier for the state of Missouri and several other hospitals in the Kansas City area have now lost their license.  Legally they are unable to sell or get rid of the stock they have and so all those flu shots are locked up and will probably get dumped ultimately.    The only reason my dr's office has them is because they are apparently one of the "private companies" that bought from them directly. I can only hope the majority of the private companies are doctors offices too, and not just businesses that want to provide them to their employees.

Are we in 2004 ? Are you in the USA ?

I cant believe there is a shortage of supplies in flu shots ! This would happen in a third worl country I would say its "normal" ... but this is just unacceptable ! Those who would like to get the shots should be able to.

To my knowledge, we have enough here. Well I hope. I think I am going to start asking questions.

It's a complicated thing to make flu vaccine with the old method.  They are working on a different method, where they don't use eggs.   I haven't checked with my doctor yet.

Is Aventis the US manufacturer or the British?  The British one was closed due to a contaminant in vaccine.

There are a lot of flu vaccines out there, but they aren't getting to the patients because of various problems like this.  It's just crazy...
