BE INFORMED Cool

http://www.mayoclinic.com/invoke.cfm?

http://www.gutfeelings.com/DIVERTICULITIS.HTML

Although this is not the most fun or pleasant topic we like to discuss, it is important to our health to know the information.

Last week my husband took me to the doctor, then on to the hospital for a CT SCAN of my abdomen.  The above is the diagnosis I was given.
Since I DO drink lots of water, and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables and nuts, this came as a surprize to both of us.  Diverticulitis is also GENETIC.
..........and my husband calls me a health nut!
Almonds are what gave me suspicion that something was definitely wrong!

All we have is our health and being one to treat mine as a temple, I am shocked that I have this, to say the least.

Do you or any of your family have one of these symptoms?  If so, get yourself checked?

They now come in capsule form.  The strange thing about me having this is, I've had no probems at all, no digestive issues  Roll Eyes  We think my Mom has it and are in the process of having her tested.  She had a lot of pain on the left side only two days before I had this attack.  So, I'm going for Genetic!

I think it's an family thing as well.  My mother had it, and my sister now has it.   Her biggest gripe is missing her popcorn.  It's her snack of choice.   When and if I have a problem, I won't be surprised.

Yes, I'll sure miss my popcorn Sad  Each time we go to the movies, we share a large refillable bag.

I'm still in a bit of shock for if anyone takes care of themself, I do!
Just goes to tell us it definitely IS a family gene!

It is a painful problem Undecided

I hope you're able to recover from this pretty quickly.  My dad has not had any problems with it since his last surgery.

I don't know, my dad has been much happier since he had his surgery and doesn't have to worry about what he eats like he did before.  Surgery sounds awful, but in this case it was a blessing.

Luci I am sorry to hear this news and thank you for sharing those links.

My dad had this at least once with hospitalization . It can be dangerous if not treated.

Good for you for following up.

Prayers sent for you. I think of you often and will continue to.
