Tell what you like to collect.   I'm sure most of us have something we collect, may not even know it is a collection.  each time we shop there is something that draws us, either consciously or sub-conscious.

I collect a bunch of stuff not even listed such as seaglass and rocks and pine cones and polar bears. But I'm a serious book collector, can't bear to part with a good book. I seem to have a rather large collection of tea cups and fancy sets of  dishes, and spoons on several spoon racks, and old tablecloths and linens but never bought any for myself, I just inherited everyone else's collectables. And I still have a large collection of Star Wars figures and books and toys and my list goes on and on.

I have to limit my collections, but I'm up to here with too much furniture.  I want to get rid of some, but not my antique pieces.  I enjoy them too much.  I also have a small collection of dolls, I hang on to favorite books, and lots of small items.  I have a collection of kitchen tools, and blue and white dishes, unmatched.  There are too many blue and white patterns that I love to choose one pattern.  I need to clear away some stuff I no longer want soon.

hmm... I tend to collect memories from my travels and experiences...

since I've worked, I collected pictures of all the places i've been to, I make it a point to buy a t-shirt with the place or city i went to on it.

and since i was able to go to a foreign country, I started collecting memorabillas like decorative plates of each city and a figurine or object that symbolizes each city or country (like the Merlion of Singapore and women of Vietnam) and coins

So, what did you collelct from Texas Pau?

Never get rid of a Doll, for after a few years they are collectibles.
Sure wish I had kept my Comic Books.

Pocket, we share the love of Blue.  I have the Sculptured Blue Grape Pottery, Metlox by Poppytrail [well, this is what is on the backs of the plates].
Purchased them in the early 60's.  My daughter asks if I'm ever going to get rid of them and I tell her NO, she will inherit them Grin  For years they only stayed in the cabinet and then I decided we might as well use them for we all know where our prized possions will go later on..............

for Texas?... I was only able to buy a plate that says Texas in the middle with pictures of its city around the word Texas...  plus a small name plate that says Paul with the Texas flag...

I wasn't able to buy a t-shirt then... plus I wasn't able to know what symbol or object that would represent Texas or the US..  Cheesy

I collect books from authors that I like. When I move in to my own place, I may decide to start a new collection (DVDs? Toys?)

JP, I guess I collect books also for I do find it difficult to get rid of even one.
We were also told how important books are, so maybe that is why.
I do have some very very old books, a few from when my Dad was in school and s book that was the second edition of Arabian Nights.  I have two copies of it.
Hmmm, wonder if they are worth much?

oh yeah... JP you reminded me that I used to collect original movies in VCD format.... I am against piracy plus I don't like the quality of pirated ones...  I stopped buying movies for some months now for I don't have time to watch them plus I'm planning to buy a DVD player...   but i'm afraid I'd break my principle of not buying pirated when I buy a player 'coz damn pirated DVD's has the same quality as the original!.....    pirated DVDs are everywhere here...

I have no comment on piracy.  Lips Sealed

When I was younger (teens?), I collected Dragonball Z figurines/toys. But I stopped collecting them because I went to college, and we had financial difficulties.

Hmmm, maybe I can start again collecting them?  Wink

Yes luci, I don't get rid of any books that I have. I don't actually want to throw away anything in general. Old IDs, ticket stubs, college notebooks, decaying pictures. It makes me feel like I'm throwing away my memories.  Cry

I am an avid collector.  I love to visit antique stores!

I collect furniture, books and art.  I love off-the-wall type stuff too.  I found a pair antique copper candle lanterns, which I purchased for $10.00.  (I have a thing for copper!)  I love rummaging through quaint shops, yard sales, second-hand stores for the unnoticed treasure.

I have a collection of bean pots and lots of silver and brass salt & pepper shakers!  In fact, I hadn't notice how much of a collector I was until this thread came up and I started taking inventory.   Grin

I used to collect brass candlesticks.  In fact they are packed away in a drawser.  No longer do I collect anything that has to be polished Undecided

When I see a piece of china that is stamped Occupied Japan on the back, I purchase it.   Oc Japan pieces are hard to find, but occasionally I will come across a piece in an antique shop or flea market.

With the help of our NC friend, I do have a good collection of NC Pottery.  Seagrove, the potttery capitol of the USA isn't far form where they live.
