When Charlie's vividly surreal dreams lead him to believe Claire's baby, Aaron, is in danger, Locke suspects Charlie may be using again. Meanwhile, Sawyer encourages Hurley to act on his attraction to Libby.

From this week's podcast: In tonight's episode there will be a scene of the London skyline with an "iconic building related to the music industry".  There is some signage of this building that you might want to note as it could be relevant later...

What does that mean?  No idea.. I just write what I hear.. Smiley

Also some "spoilers" of a type - some Hurley romance, more about the lies Charlie told Claire.. and the relationship brewing between Claire and Locke.  Does Claire just see him as a "protective father figure" type thing.. or is there more to it??

If you want to hear the podcasts (I just discovered these) you can listen online at www.abc.com

omg, i loved this episode!! Locke has definitely gone to the dark side!! He did NOT want that baby baptized. And why keep those statues? and change the combination on the lock again?? Would also explain why the monster was "beautiful" to him the first time amd tried to drag him down the second time...now the question is...when did he turn?? I think in the first episode with Ethan. the first time we see Ethan he's with Locke and they've been out all night hunting.

ok yesteach, before I read your post i HATED this episode. I thought it was horrible on the part of the writers have Locke go off on Charlie for no apparent reason.  I think he spent most of the episode TOTALLY out of character.

But if what you say is true, that makes a bit more sense.

Also, when Locke had the water bottle, did Claire see the Marys reflecting off of it. I don't think she did, but if not, whey did they show that scene?

At least Jack is still talking to Charlie.

By the way, after reading some onset Gossip (which is totally innapropriate to post on a family bored, anyone wants the link lemme know) I totally despise not only the character of Ana-Lucia, but the actress as well. I couldn't stand LOOKING at her last night.  Hope they kill her off next

I found the episode really really disppointingly boring with no revelations that made me jump.

My thought is Locke didn't want Charlie to tell about the baby being in danger and all and the need to be baptized because he didn't want the baby under more protection so that The Others could execute the plan to take the baby easier.  He would use the Charlie was on drugs to tell Claire he's just going crazy.

But Also, wouldn't the Others want the baby baptized so he could be deemed good?

Also, why would Locke change after talking to Ethan?  And I don't understand how anything would explain Locke calling the baby beautiful

Hmmm.. missed that bit, that's exactly what he said about the "island" after he saw the monster the first time.. told Jack he'd looked into the eye of the island, and it was beautiful...

As for Ethan, he didn't just talk to him - he was in the jungle with him hunting with him.  He even commented what a good tracker he was when they were tracking Claire and Charlie after Ethan took them...

Oops, I didn't mean Locke called the baby beautiful.  At least, I don't think he did.  I was talking about the monster.  I didn't understand what you meant by this sentence:

"Would also explain why the monster was "beautiful" to him the first time amd tried to drag him down the second time"

Ahhh... in season 1 in Walkabout - Locke, Kate and Michael go hunting for boar.  A boar comes running out and gores Michael, so Kate takes him back to the beach.  Locke insists on going on alone.  While Kate and Michael are on the way back, they see "something" going thru the trees headed in the same direction Locke was going.  It's the same thing (shaking trees, "monstery sounds") that they saw before the pilot got snatched out of the cockpit and killed.

The scene cuts to Locke in the jungle alone... "monster" coming at him.  He stumbles back and looks up as though he is looking at something, and just stares at it.  In the next episode (White Rabbit) when Jack keeps seeing his dead father... he and Locke are talking about what the island is, what it's telling them, etc.  That when Locke tells Jack that he has looked into the eye of the island, and it was beautiful.

A few weeks after that he was on Jimmy Kimmel and Kimmel asked him what he "saw".. he told him he had no idea what it was, what the monster looked like, that there was nothing there, but that the direction he was giving was to look at it as though it was "the most beautiful thing he'd ever seen."

At the end of the season, the "monster" comes again.. (which is also the first time we see the black 'smoke' stuff as the monster).  That time when it came after Locke he stumbled and fell backward.  He looked up as though he were seeing the same thing... and then the look of "beautiful" turned to a look of horror...

On last week's podcast on ABC's website, they were talking about the "smoke monster's" encounter with Eko in 23rd Psalm, and how it "reads" people.  And THEY are the ones who commented (Linelof and Cuse) that maybe that's why it reacted differently to Locke the second time, maybe what it "read" had changed since he'd been on the island...

Didn't say if that was good or bad.. just implied that he had "changed"

oh okay, i get it now.  Somehow Locke has changed because he sees the monster differently now.

Anyone notice the sound just before the dove comes out of the jungle?  If you have HDTV or downloaded it on iTunes, you can actually see the plane go down on the left side of the screen just before the dove comes out... very cool.

After Eko's comments about John the Baptist and Christ's baptism and the dove.. my thought was it symbolized Charlie giving up the drugs.. the plane crashed, and from the wreckage came the dove... and Charlie's "sins were all washed away" so to speak...
