I hear the DVD is a two disc set with a bit of the third film on it.

The third film is scheduled to start in Toronto on December 17th, 2003. Can't wait.

They have said they are going to do the same thing with the second movie that they did with the third. In November they will release a second DVD set of the second movie, with an added 30+ minutes of film inserted into the proper places that never reached the theatre.

Watching the extended version of the first movie is almost like watching a whole new movie. That extra 30 minutes just adds so much more to it, makes the story richer.

Nice thing about Netflix is I can rent film days ahead of time and when its released they mail it out day before so i should have it in mail today!

"Rings" distributor New Line Cinema recently announced it is planning a special screening series leading up the release of the final film in the epic trilogy.

"Fellowship of the Ring" and "Two Towers" will roll into theaters across the U.S. in sequential order before the December 17 release of the "The Return of the King," so die-hard fans can catch all three films on the big screen in the same month.

Frodo and Sam fight to eliminate the One Ring in "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers," released Tuesday on DVD.

The second installment of "Lord of the Rings," based on the series of J.R.R. Tolkein books, won Oscars in the visual effects and sound editing categories.

Filmed in New Zealand (with a little tweaking from the film's special effects department), the story flashes back and forth between three adventures, as members of The Fellowship face unimaginable obstacles and dangers, including a lethal army of 10,000 soldiers under the leadership of Saruman.

"Two Towers" is already the top selling DVD on Amazon.com.

yeah, I can wait until November for the extended version. I might rent the current release now just so I can see it again, but as far as buying it I want the "full" version.

I watched Two Towers last night and LOVED, LOVED, LOVED IT!! I also Loved, LOVED, LOVED Lord of Rings..........................I watched it about 10 times.........will more than likely do the same with the second one, am waiting excitedly for the third. Since I am old, never turn on my TV because I am painting all the time, and do not have the ability to play DVD's, will they do the "exended" thing on regular video tapes? Excuse my ignrance! Thanks! They did with the first movie, they released to video stores at least an extended version. I can't imagine they won't do the same. Also I have read that in December they are re-releasing the first two films to the theatre prior to the release of the third film, BUT it will be the extended versions showing, not the original theatrical release. I'm really excited to see that!
