Five Easy Pieces

Filmed in 1970, with Jack Nicholson, Karen Black, Fannie Flagg,  Sally Struthers,  and others you might recognize.  
Jack hasn't changed one bit, only gotten older, such a great actor.  He makes acting look so easy.  
 
One scene in a cafe is a classic for this movie.  Even folks who never saw the movie probably saw this particular scene.  Priceless!
The story line is;  he was a concert pianist gave it up, wandered around the country doing jobs you wouldn't think of for a concert pianist.   He left Oklahoma and took his girlfriend with him to Washington to meet his brainy family.    
All were musicians and very intellectual.  The ending of the film is priceless.  
Thirty four years ago and a typical Jack film for that time!
 
Great movie so if any of you get a chance to view it on cable, don't miss it!

Look for it on your cable channels.
The tag line for this movie is:
"He rode the fast lane on a road to nowhere"
 
Any movies he's in we see, for you can bet you will get your money and time's worth!

I don't have cable tv but I agree that Jack Nicholson is a fantastic actor. He is always so natural, I would imagine him being similar in real life. We see a lot of his films too, although I don't remember this one. I'll keep my eyes open for it on rental.  And the funny thing is he looks like a friend of ours, who acts about the same as Jack. Have you see "Something's gotta give" yet? You get to see a LOT of Jack in that one, and not his best side either.

Yes, we did see "Sometigs Gotta Give", first day, first opening!  So now you know how much we love his movies.    Aw, getting a glimpse of Jack's butt wasn't so bad, very funny though! Grin
And have never seen him in a bad one!
 
I went to his site and cannot see where he was nominated for anything in "Five Easy Pieces", do you know if he was nor not?  
 
The cafe scene is a classic Cool Cool Cool
 
UPDATE-...just went back to the site and it was Best Picture, Best Suporting Actress, Best Director
