Movies for Grey Winter Days!

Due to our cold, rainy week, we unwrapped some older DVD's that I had purchased for our Library.

"Caddyshack" was the one we watched the first afternoon.  Kenny Loggins in his finest hour with several of his songs in the movie.  The animated gopher was cute to watch, for I don't remember paying that much attention to it when seeing this movie years ago.  An entertaining movie, good cast., with Chevy Chase, Bill Murray, Rodney Daingerfield,  lots of laughs, we vote
Cool Cool Cool on this one for a rainy day!

"The Big Country" filmed in 1958, a classic with a wonderful cast of Charlton Heston, Gregory Peck, Jean Simmons, Carol Baker, Chuck Connors, Burl Ives, and of course set in the west.  Loved it the first time I saw it in 1958 and loved it in 2004.
Great movie!   Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool

I live in East Tennessee close to the Smokies.  A good movie I like to dig into (besides Star Wars) is the SongCatcher, an indie film (Janet McTeer and Aidian Quinn) about a early 1900's musicologist who discovers in the Mountains of Western North Carolina songs sung by the locals (hillbillies, hicks, yodels, inbreds, whatever you want to call us) are in fact intact English ballads that are over 2-300 years old handed down generation to generation.   The songs in this movie are 1000 times better than O Brother where art thou.
In fact, if you watch both movies.  You will see that music everyone is wanting to get their hands on (remember the scene with the blind music recorder)  in OBWAT is the music similar to that in the Songcatcher (ol timey music)
