I'll bet everyone who goes to see it will be happy that Mel Gibson finally agreed to add subtitles. Originally he didn't want to claiming that everyone knows the story, why would we need to understand the lines. I obviously paraphrased that. Everyone, brush up on your Arameic & Latin!

I saw some clips from the movie on TV last night.  The Latin and Aramaic really add authenticity to the movie.  As with any movie taken from the Bible, there are lines in there that don't appear in Scripture so, yes, the subtitles will be extremely helpful to the viewer.

The movie is nearly sold out here.  We've got tickets for Saturday morning.

Shamon, the same thing is happening here.  Our church alone bought out five movie theaters at our local cinema for our members to be able to go together and invite others to go along with them.

(LOL @ your comment about Thursday night!)

wow! That is interesting about churches buying up entire theaters tickets so an entire congregation can attend together. Maybe I haven't been reading my paper closely enough of listening to the news more often but I have heard nothing like that here. But then again our congregation sizes tend to be much smaller (100 tops on a good Sunday) and poorer. I will keep my ears open at my local church, watch their web site and pay attention Sunday during worship for comments on the film. I'm planning to see it in a theater eventually. I don't even know what theater near me will be showing it however.

Wow, 33 views & only 6 votes.... hmmmm.

I don't think anything is happening around here like listed above. There was a press conference tho between Christian & Jewish spiritual leaders calling for harmony between Jews & Christians. I guess they're afraid this could spark some anti-Semitic feelings. I really really don't want to see this film create violence in my neighborhood. That would suck & hardly be worth the effort. We've come far as a community working to coexist & even thrive in a very racially & religiously mixed population.

From what I know so far, I don't think the film is anti-Semitic, but in today's highly charged environment, I don't blame anyone for being cautious.

I'm not going to see it.  It sounds too much like a snuff-flick for my taste.  Reading about the scourging and crucifixion was bad enough, I don't need to see it in wide-screen close-up with Dolby emphasized whiplashs.
