Horror Movies. Tell us what to watch!

So whats your favorite horror movie(s) that scared the crap out of you? Share so we have an idea what to rent/see/buy when we want to get scared.

For me...

The Ring - it was pretty scary. I didnt turned the lights off my room for the next 5 days after watching it. Japanese version, though not much of effects, is very disturbing.

Ju-On (the Grudge) - I RECOMMEND THIS MOVIE! Its an old Japanese horror movie that has been remade again. I heard US will make their version, but the one I saw, which was out last year or so is VERY VERY DISTURBING AND SCARY! The stories are seperated yet woven into one. I HATE GHOSTS!

Signs - not scary but is pretty creepy cuz we all know it can come true.

When I was a kid... hmmm.. Poltergeist, and some local horror movies that I love and hate to watch. Usually have to do with ghosts... "the Unborn" and "It's Alive" was pretty scary too...

And man, Excorcist, when she went down the stairs in that odd position. OK, I have to stop thinking and typing about these...

I tend to like the psycological thrillers more than the bloodbath ones.

I am struggling to think of some but here are some of my favorites.

The Thing - John Carpenter version
Invasion of the Body Snatchers - Been years since I saw it but it is a classic
The Ring - Was good on many levels
Alien - Great movie
Aliens - Best sequel ever made in my mind. Series went into the pooper after that..
Amityville Horror - spooky AND based on true story to boot
Jaws - If you see this and don't worry when swimming you are just odd.
Rosemary's Baby
Ghost Story
The Omen
The Excorcist

The Ring is good on the big screen....
Nothing really scared me when I was younger (Jason, Freddy, Chucky, etc.)  until I saw the Orsen Wells documentary of Nostradamus, "The Man who Saw Tomorrow" for the entire year of 1997 I kept my eye in the sky looking nuclear missles....

Horror is my favorite genre.  They just can't make a movie to scare me.  Sad

I would be bad if I told you what Rosemary's Baby was about. Part of its alure is the plot twist at the end.

New York in the 70's. A couple moves into a new complex. The meet their neighbors who are all charming but odd things begin to happen. The mother is expecting and the plot begins to develop from there.

Not scary horror. More psychological horror.

horror films?...hmmm... i'm not much in to it but i did watched some...

the ring (Jap version) indeed is very good... but i wasn't surprised when Sadako went out of the TV screen, coz i already expected it... yet... the well scenes did frightened me... that i fear looking inside dark wholes... Grin

the exorcist i haven't seen... maybe i could say that the 13 Ghosts is a good film, quite thrilling.. and of course the 6th Sense...

When I was very young (6-8 yo) I would sneak out in my brother's bedroom (who is 8 years older than me) and we would watch Dracula movies togheter. The old ones. With Bella Lugosi. And all the others in black and white. Nosferatus also. Then... I would have trouble sleeping for weeks.Smiley

Bram Stoker's Dracula movie, with Keanu Reeves and Wynona Ryders is, IMO, one of the greatest love stories. He travelled time to be with her. awwwwwe

When I was a teen, Freddy really scared me. I couldnt take a bubble bath for months, and had trouble finding sleep. I am a Freddy fan. Smiley When the movie Jason vs.Freddy was in theater, guess who was at the premiere? Yep. Moi. And I still say that Freddy won. Wink

Jason never scared me. I find the Friday 13th movies pretty boring, although I have them all here at home. I think my husband likes them. Maybe its because there is always a cute( Roll Eyes) naked girl wandering in the dark?

The Evil Dead 1 http://www.houseofhorrors.com/evildead.htm
That movie scared me to death, but again, I was maybe 13 y o when I saw it the first time. Yep, my mother should have screened my movie choices eh. I have rented it again recently with my husband, and WOW, I cant believe I was scared by that.

Now, what I consider horror movies are all these "based on a true story" movies. All these women and kids being abused and beaten up, this is trully horror to me, and I avoid watching these movies.

Ooo...I LOVED Signs with Mel Gibson!

Also, not exactly a "horror film" per se but full of frightful suspense, I enjoyed "Wait Until Dark" in which Audrey Hepburn plays a blind woman at home alone.  I first saw it when I was 17 at camp and literally jumped out of my seat.  It's an oldie but a goodie!

Pilar and watch Horror all the time to pick our favs would be tough but the number one has to be Exorcist withut a doubt. Earlier post regarding Rosemary's baby I was shocked its a classic! To put it simple a Human woman gives birth to devil's child. nuff said here are some of mine and Pilars favs not in order

Exorcist
Ring
Dracula 2000 (loved Biblical reference)
Poltergist
Dawn of the Dead (1970's version)
Omen (all of them)

to name a few

Yeah "Evil Dead"! I dont remember much of it but as a child I always was a horror fan(even if I easily get scared!)... Evil Dead 3 - "Army of Darkness" is kinda goofy and more of a comedy/fantasy genre, but its fun nonetheless.

Yeah, Sheisback, one of "Friday the 13th" movies' trademark are naked chicks! I have the DVD too, and clearly, Freddy won... well, he is smarter and more creative in his killings, Jason is just one big killing machine with no attitude at all...

Hmmm... Fright Night comes to mind too but I dont remember much of it...

Oh, "Night of the Living Dead" is a classic. The best zombie film if you ask me!

(hey I just noticed - its my 100th post! wooot!)
