Forgive me if this movie was already discussed further back in these forums.  I glanced back and didn't see  thread on it.
 
Why was the movie thusly named?  How does Halle Berry apparently not serve jail time at the end of the movie?  Why was "Julie" (the ghost) so violent with Berry if she was simply trying to warn her and show her the truth?
 
I thought Robert Downey, Jr., as usual, was very good.  He is such a talented actor, in spite of his personal problems.

Gothika I guess is to get appeal from audience, since a lot of people do want to scare themselves silly. Gothika right away brings the tought of a horror movie to people.
 
Why she isnt in jail I guess is thru the help and persuassion of Downey and the father of the ghost. Why the ghost is violent... possibly to keep the audience from seeing an obvious plot/ending or maybe when youre a ghost you act all crazy sometimes, like Samara... who knows whats going on on that realm.
