House of Sand & Fog

Tried to not move while watching this one today!  Although a bit slow, the suspense keeps one on the edge of their seat to see what happens next.  
I will say it does not end like one would think.  
We certainly did not expect this kind of ending!
 
Good movie, kept our interest, not predictible.

We hated it! Kingsley was great but outside of that we felt characters we flawed and so was story

Although I felt characters unrealistic and story and ending unfullfilling Kinglsey was wonderful as the Father!

Ok more detail I will go through characters and what pilar and I disliked about them and situation
 
main character- we never felt sorry for her as I suspect writers wanted us to. the idea she need only open her mail never washed with us. We found her character annoying at best and her entire situation unbelievable. she just seems plod theough film with no real meaning or purpose even though film tries toshow she does.
 
Cop- Ok I can understand he may have a loveless mariage but one night in the sack with Conneley and he turns into a near serial killer! Not realistic enough for us to believe.
 
Father- Acting great as mentioned but you never truly understand him. Yes he is very prideful and that causes alot of his actions in this film so he can hold his head up he creates this pretend world. Then he becomes abusive to his wife and after that all feelings for his situation are gone.
 
Irainian Wife- She needs to get out and take her son with her. She regonizes that they live a lie and that what they are doing is wrong but she fears both her husband and returning to Iran so much she sugjects both her self and son to abuse
 
Irain son- Here we have a real victim and the only one I really felt sorry for.
 
Ending tied up nothing which made whole plot meaningless and how it ended was very distressing to us.

Then you wouldn't have had a story!   We discussed some of these same things when it was over, but there would have been no story!  She didn't open her mail because she was very depressed!  Cop met her and fell in love!  People in other countries do those kinds of suicides.  The son, truly a victim!
