C.S. Lewis book in production

For those of you who are fans of the Lewis book "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe" and the other books in his series about Naria:

www.narnia.com
and
www.narniaweb.com

I've been a big fan of his Narnia books since I was a kid.  Now, I read them with my own kids.  I can't wait until next December's release!! Ever since seeing the LOTR movie triology, I've been thinking that they need to put Lewis' LWW on film and do it justice.  Let's hope they do!
 Cool

There is a play here called The Lion the Witch and The Wardrobe. But I haven't seen it yet. So I think I'll catch the movie.

Angel, if they really are better than Harry Potter, I better try it.  Wink

Hmm, well I have read both series and as an adult I do prefer the Harry Potter stuff for multiple reads, etc.  The Narnia stuff is certainly very good, but a lot more religiously themed.  Many parts of the books read like the stories in the bible, just reworded into a different setting.  I have started to introduce the Narnia books to my 6 year old, but not the Harry Potter books just yet, they are good stories, but on a simpler reading level in a lot of ways.  I don't doubt they will translate into good films and if the special effects are done right, could be quite spectacular.

Gee Rhune I never noticed that.  Granted I read the books when i was a lot younger.  Given Lewis' theological background (I had to read one of his other books for a theology class) it doesn't surprise me.  I think i will go back and reread them now. I agree though that they are a lot simpler.  I don't know. Just when i sit back and remember reading them, it just felt magical...I wanted to crawl into a wardrobe and hope for the best!

Absolutely!  I'm not knocking the books at all, and if I didn't like them I wouldn't be introducing my own kid to them, but in a side by side comparison I prefer re-reading the harry potter stuff and when my son is a little older I'll introduce him to those too.

Angel, I haven't read the Harry Potter books but I doubt that they could hold a candle to C.S. Lewis' "Chronicles of Narnia."  There are definitely biblical undertones that run throughout the Narnia series.  Then again, there are talking animals, tree nymphs, and Father Christmas.

I loved the books as a child and I still love them as my kids and I read them together.

I remember when I was in high school there was a BBC program of this. It was with humans and Aslan was a huge muppet like creation. It was well done and I enjoyed it a lot.

I bought my daughter the complete works last Xmas and it is part of our weekly ritual that I read to her from it before bed. She loves the series and it is good quality time between us.  Smiley

Cool  Good for you, Borad.  That's how I was introduced to them as a child.  My mom read them with me at night before bed.  Smiley

Shamon, I never could get into his triology for adults but I liked "The Screwtape Letters."  I hear that "Surprised By Joy" is very good, too.
