Oscar Nominations

I am soooo disappointed that Paul Giamatti was not nominated for "Sideways" - yet Thomas Hadyn Church and Virginia Madsen were both nominated, the movie was nominated, the director was nominated, the screenplay was nominated... well, you get the idea...  How awful for Giamatti that even after this amazing performance, he still gets no recognition...  Sad Sad

I was actually surprised that Leo DiCaprio is nominated, after all the talk about him being snobbed at nominations.

The Aviator having 11 nominations makes me want to watch this film.

I heard Passion of the Christ was not nominated? in any Category?  Shocked

JP, "The Aviator" is an excellent movie, based on the time frame when Hughes went to Hollywood.  It ends as he is considering moving to the desert, which is Las Vegas.

Passion got 3 nominations.

I was hoping it would get more.  It was such a powerful movie.

I'm now anxious to see "Million Dollar Baby."  I swear, though, if anyone spoils the plot of the movie here, I'll have to come find you and pour unpopped popcorn kernels down your pants!

Leo is certainly someone who can empathize with Paul Giamatti.  I remember when Titanic was up, everyone in the cast and crew basically was nominated except for him.

I basically heard everything about Million Dollar Baby was fantastic, except for the title of the movie. Wink

I like the movie and all, but I thought at that time that his acting is not really Oscar material yet.  Wink
