They don't always agree with me either, Rhune.  I mean, you'd think the Academy would give us a call before casting their votes, right? :laff:

Going out on a limb, I will say;
Annette Bening - Best Actress, since she didn't win for "American Beauty"
[it will probably go to Imelda Staunton for "Vera Drake", which most of us have never heard of until this nommination Roll Eyes

Clint Eastwood[past performances] - Best Actor - My Choice - Jamie Foxx
Supporting Actor - Alan Alda, this is not my choice, his part was so small in "The Aviator"!
The Oscar should go to Morgan Freeman,  Excellent Actor
Supporting Actress - Cate Blanchett - My Choice - Natalie Portman

Costumes - The Aviator" or "Ray"
Best Movie - "Ray" is our choice, hands down Cool
Best Song - "Believe" from "Polar Express"

SAG Members vote for the winners not only for their present, but for past work in other films.  This is my reason for thinking Clint could win.  Morgan Freeman deserves an Oscar for all the excellent work in past films, "Driving Miss Daisy",
"Shawshank Redemption" to name two films, in which he gave an excellent performance!

What I detest is throwing in a nominee that is not that welll known in the USA for an Award as important as Best Actress with this Staunton Actress Angry

Oh well, we'll all know on Feb 27, 2005, only to forget a few days later Wink

I suspect Morgan Freeman may win this year, and for what you mention above, not just this performance, but a body of work.  I'd also like to see Jamie Foxx win for Ray, but figure it will be tight between him and Clint.  Clint might take home best director and/or pick and Jamie take actor with it split up a little.  This is one year where there is just a lot to choose from.  While I'd love to see Kate Winslet win for Eternal Sunshine (my personal favorite film of the year) I don't see it happening.  I'm glad she was at least nominated and I'm sorry Carey wasn't - it's one of his best performances.  I suspect the only oscar it might take is best original screenplay, which traditionally goes to a more "artsy" film.

I think Catalina Sandino Moreno deserves the Oscar for her role in The Columbian Drama 'Maria Full Of Grace'.  I think she was excellent in the role, and definatly deserves the award seeing that it was her first movie that makes it even more amazing.

If you didn't see 'Maria Full of Grace' here is a short summary of the movie
When seventeen-year-old Maria discovers she is pregnant, she decides to earn money to support her child by agreeing to act as a "mule" for drug dealers. Along with two of her friends, Maria swallows dozens of bags of cocaine and flies from Bogota to New York, where she finds herself caught up in a nightmarish and dangerous world.
It's alot different than you might think.  I really connected in a way, because I know what its like to do crazy things for your child (even though I think smuggling drugs would be a bit over board fo me lol)
So I reccomend this movie to every one.

Thanks Jenna, it sound like a very entertaining movie.  We'll have to see this one.  Is it at the video store already?

So far, Hillary Swank and Jamie Foxx are in the lead, with both of them winning a GOLDEN GLOBE AWARD and the SCREEN ACTORS GUILD AWARD, which was last night!

So great to see MORGAN FREEMAN win!

JAMES GARNER, The Lifetime Acheivement Award Cool

After seeing Hilary Swank in "Million Dollar Baby" yesterday, I've definitely changed my vote to her for an Oscar.  I picked Annette only because I've thought the Academy would give it to her.  After all, she's been nominated before and is
Mrs. Warren Beatty!

The actual ceremony hasn't started yet, right?  It's just the preliminary stuff?

Jamie Foxx has been all over the news here in North Texas... apparently a HUGE party going on in Terrell tonite (his hometown).  I saw Ray last weekend, he was pretty incredible - hope he wins.
