This is one reason why I think George Lucas should never write scripts

I think Anakin did too much damage, and she couldn't be saved... It's the perfect irony of the movie...

Discussion about plot...

I think her demise was pretty fair. If you look at statistics of couples that have been together for years then one passes away you will find a high percentage of the surviving spouses died shortly after.

To me when they said she didn't have the will to live I could relate to that. The Anakin she knew and love was dead to her. The man she once knew betrayed everything she held dear and destroyed the galaxy in the process. When she tried to bring him back in the end and he refused to listen and then attacked her that was it in her mind, Anakin was dead and she was married to a monster.

Some might argue that the children would be enough for her to find the will to live but it doesn't make for good plot.

I not only blame  Anakin for Padmas death but Obwon if he would of kept  her out  of  it  Anakin wouldn't of killed her he was made  that Obwon was with Padma and thout she betrayed him by bringing Obwon to him but she didn't if Obwon never put Padma in that situation. she wouln't be dead half of the blame   is on Obwon he droped the ball! Angry Angry furious ps when she said she didn't have the will to live Anakin she knew and love was dead to her yes he broke her heart  it's a  little like Romeo and Jauliet  except  that they don't  take  poison guy falls in love gets married there love is  forbidden three years later shes pregnant his fear of her death puts him on the path to the dark side his wife try's to save him but in the process  of saving him  he kills her what did i  tell you Romeo and Jauliet :bigcry: :bigcry:

I don't see that anyone is to blame except Vader - he's the one who lost control.  He's the one who got jealous for no reason, wouldn't listen and just acted on his jealousy.  He's the one who turned to the darkside, he's the one who abandoned her and all they both stood for to get what he wanted.  And in the end, he still didn't get it... hence the irony of the story.

As for Romeo and Juliet, it's nothing like the same.  Theirs was a self less love, they were both willing to die for the other and neither one wanted to live without the other.  Anakin/Vader had a selfish love, he wasn't willing to die for Padma, he was just willing to kill and destroy to have what he wanted.  If it were a selfless love, he would never have hurt her!  If it were a truly selfless love, when he realized she was dead, he would have killed himself.. instead he just goes on being evil (for three more epsisodes.. Smiley)

As for blaming ObiWan, that's like my boyfriend talking to one of my friends, and me getting jealous and accusing him of something I have no proof of.  How is that my friend's fault?  I'm the one who over reacted to a situation without knowing all the details... and that's what Vader did.

I blaming ObiWan. Not because  Anakin  jealous but for puting /padma between  there  fight. Obiwon snuck on the jet craft. and Padma didn't know and then while Padma and  Anakin  where talking. and she was trying to talk Anakin in to running away with her. Obwon pops out and thats the reason i blame him. If Obwon would of went to Anakin alone Anakin wouldn't of  thought Padma betrayed him .Thats all im saying :bigcry: :bigcry:  I saw it yesterday. and man it was grate. Loved it the action and the special effect where  incredible. But im sad because Padma dies   Ps.yesteach: you have know idear but i was thinking the same thing. If it were a selfless love, he would never have hurt her! and If it were a truly selfless love, when he realized she was dead, he would have killed himself..I know if i was him i wouln't have ever broke her heart the way he did. Or strike her the way he did it would of killed or distrode me. To know i was the couse of her heart ack and pain. and yes if i was him i would of killed my self because being  with out her is to live with out my soul ..or a breath of air.

Bumping this thread up to respond to yes teach

I never thought of it that way, a comparison between Anakin and Padme to Romeo and Juliet...but maybe we have the wrong, play. Othello Anyone? Mindless jealously of the king leads him to kill the only one he loves and who loves him.  That's a powerful irony right there.  He did all this to save her and in the end, its what killed her.  I wonder if he ever figured that out.

It IS a tragedy, just not Romeo and Juliet.  I think Anakin WOULD have died to save padme, had the opportunity presented itself, but it never did, it was a selfish love in the sense that he didn't care what she wanted, or what was best for her.  Man this has given me so much to think about!! thank you!!
