I don't know if they're showing it here yet. It might be shown the same week as King Kong! (which is next week!)  Undecided

I did see it last night.  I have mixed opinions on it, honestly.  It reminded me very much of the first Harry Potter film.  They stayed true to the book almost to the point of word for word.  There was very little artistic license or "film adaptation" about it, it was simply the book translated into film.  Now, while that might appease a book purist, it made for a film that was a bit tedious and dry in some parts.  The Harry Potter films improved, as a film when they stopped translating the book so literally and inserted some additional laughs and whatnot to engage the audience along the way, something that the LOTR adaptions also did quite effectively without hurting the story.  I felt like the book's story was told and they did it justice, and the visual effects were stunning, but while your imagination takes over in the books and gives it a boost that way, it didn't quite work on film as a literal translation.  I give it an 8 out of 10.  I didn't feel my money was wasted and I'll likely buy the dvd, but I'm not going to go see it at the theatre 3 times like I did with Harry Potter 4.

I didnt read the book however I thought it was mesmerizing.  To me it was one of the best movies that I have ever seen.  The specail effects were fantastic, the Lion was truely amazing.  I think this movie will win lots of awards.  Go and see it, Im sure you wont be disappointed.

Oh thank God. Good to hear good reviews.  My older sister who is 63 is going to force me to go see this movie over the weekend with her.  It's the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, right?  I read it in my teens if I remember and loved it.  But now that stuff doesn't interest me.  I've never seen any of the Harry Potter movies.  Say a prayer that I get through this.   Cheesy

It will be a shame if you don't enjoy it at all, sounds like somewhere along the way you got too rroted in reality. Wink  Time to reconnect with childhood fantasy. Smiley

You know me too well, Rhune.  Oh and so you know, I plan to see King Kong too.  Turnabout is fair play. I will drag her out to see that.

But about Narnia, I am sure I'll be running back here to blab about how great it was.   Cheesy
