Poseidon

Being a child of the 70's I couldn't resist going to see this movie... and it lived up to the old one quite well!

The Poseidon Adventure is one of the few movies I can actually recall going to see as a child, my grandparents took my brother and me to see it when it opened, I was about 12, he would have been 9.  We both loved it... I still have a vivid memory of that guy in the promos crashing spread eagle through the stained glass plate in the roof as the boat flipped.

Kurt Russell was great, but then again, a child of the 70's, how can I NOT love Kurt Russell.. Cheesy  Richard Dreyfuss was very good - I've always liked him, ever since Jaws... Josh Lucas was a great counterpoint for Russell.  The other escapees were good as well... very dramatic... found myself holding my breath in places as the water started to rise...

All in all, it had the same "70's disaster movie" feel of the original, and Towering Inferno, and all those other Irwin Allen movies from the 70's... only with better effects.. Cheesy

Definitely worth seeing...

It was the number 1 movie here last weekend. But with the onslaught of big summer movies (Da Vinci Code, X-Men 3), I might wait for Poseidon to come out in DVD.

I have the original Poseidon in VCD. It is one of the old movies that I love watching.

The original first movie is better. MI3 beats this movie at the box office.

I watched Poseidon when it was broadcasted on TV a few months ago. It must have been the old I guess...it was the one where the bombs were planted, not the tidal wave like I see on all the previews Wink

I think it was actually called 'The Poseidon Adventure', and my dad said it was probably just made for TV.

I think that's the sequel to the Poseidon Adventure. I know there's a sequel to the old one, I saw it, but don't remember the story much. Then again, it could be the made-for-TV movie one.

We've seen Kurt & John on several TV Programs promoting the movie.
A lot of their emotions are very real.  Teh female lead couldn't swim!

Which female is considered the lead?  There are three of them, and as far as I could tell, they were all about the same...
